I know he hasn't achieved anything as of yet but where would you put him ? Been lucky to have seen us since Clarke so seen some pretty good managers - Clarke, Hunter, Wilson and Hecky but he's right up there with the best. Thought he might struggle with this squad being so low in confidence but he hit the ground running. They look much better organised and fitter. Some of the football we have seen has been a delight to watch. Hopefully he can take us up and. E given some money to allow us to compete!!
Way too early to judge for me. If we go up and struggle the knives will be out for him. What I will confidently say is.....he's better than Morais!
Too early to tell, if we go up this season though he’s already put himself in the list for me. Do well in the championship and he could be one of the greats
If you'd had him stuffed he could have done cat impressions in the dressing room and saved Jose the job.
I think he has got the best out of a group of players 2 other managers struggled to get anything out of. If he gets us promoted it will be the biggest achievement since Wilson got us to the premiership imo, this league is far more competitive than last time we were here we could finish on 94 points and still not be promoted this time round which is incredible. Like already said though the knives will be out if we go up and don't do well, or we don't go up. Only a few week back after Burton people were on here saying if we don't go up he should leave. For me his football has been a breath of fresh air compared to last season. And with the injurys and players been sold ect that he has had to deal with he has done a great job. Would any of the 2 from last season have us still in the mix for automatic with 2 games to go, unbeaten at home playing attacking football.... Doubt it.
I've seen us promoted under 3 managers Wilson, ritchie and hecky but no one ever refers to Ritchie it's like he has been forgotten.
Think nature of football is that knives come out if things aren't going well - happened to the very best
Good point. He did a fantastic job getting us up. I thought we were the weakest of the play off teams and then had a decent go with no strengthening in the Championship.
I love his style of play and passion for the club. However I'm probably contradicting myself abit here with all the praise I've given to him and the squad but I think a manager is judged on how they react when things aren't going so well. We don't know this about Daniel yet, can he cut it in the championship? I really hope so because from what I've seen so far I'd love him to be here for years to come.
Yeah we rode our luck in the final, he put too much trust in the team that got us up and didn't strengthen enough. Nice bloke though and gave us a memorable day at Cardiff.
In some respects it is a futile argument in that it depends on what they had to work with and were they sacked before they had the time to develop a team.
Well judging us on entertainment value I'd put him firmly 2nd behind Danny Wilson in the time I've been watching us. Really enjoyed going to Oakwell this season.
True but some on here were sharpening the knives after our 1st defeat in twenty odd games when our top scorer had been injured since feb couldn't make it up.
Far too early to judge. He's achieved nothing yet and spent one season below our natural history level, with one of the biggest budgets in the league, so we should be where we are. Arthur Fairclough won us a FA Cup. Even Simon Davey got us to a FA Cup semi final, kept us the longest of many managers at championship level and put together in Steele/Muller the best pairing of keepers we have ever had. Hecky got us promoted. Wilson got us promoted. Bassett got us 90 minutes from the Premier League. Johnson got us to a Wembley final. Clarke and Hunter both before my time. I reckon he's already top 10 but I wouldn't have him in top 5.
He's not even close to Clarke or Hunter yet. In time that might change. I really hope it does because we're in for a good journey if so.
