Breaking news story Notre Dame cathedral in Paris is on fire https://abcnews.go.com/International/fire-breaks-paris-notre-dame-cathedral/story?id=62411000
I could weep. What a terrible, terrible tragedy for everybody. Went there in 1984. Such history devastated.
I agree its much worse than that - I've been in there a few times over the years and it was a beautiful and incredibly peaceful building. At best the entire roof is lost and its probably going to be much worse than that. I hope they can save it but it doesn't look too promising at the moment
Took my daughter for her birthday in November. Heartbreaking. 200 years to build. 2 hours to collapse.
The famous Notre Dame spire has collapsed. What a terrible tradegy. Will probably take a not inconsiderable amount of time to restore it to its former glory.
Apparently it's been structurally unsound for quite a while anyway. That doesn't bode well for saving the building, even the outside walls. Very unlikely that what remains will ever be safe again.
The man is such a massive cretin. Can you imagine opening one of those fire planes over central Paris risking killing people and damaging other buildings? They are useful for forest fires.
