You forget to mention we signed Woodrow to replace Bradshaw.1.1m for Bradshaw 600k for Woodrow ,no brainer .
I think we got £1.5 million for Bradshaw. Amazing bit of business. We sold a very likeable and hardworking, but limited, player for much more than he was worth and replaced him with a striker twice as good for less than half the price. But that isn't the full story. Conway stated that the only disappointment from the summer transfer activity was that we didn't get our main target - Conor Chaplin from Portsmouth. Not that I put any blame on our recruitment team for that, Portsmouth wouldn't sell him to us. But that proved we wanted an additional striker, not just a replacement for Bradshaw. We then had 4/5 months to identify an alternative to sign in January and we had a fair chunk of the Bradshaw money to buy him with. We decided to sign a player who wouldn't be available to us for the rest of the season. It's difficult to assess that decision without swearing.
The news down pompy was chaplin was always signing for cov ....they had never even heard of our interest. That doesn't mean we wernt in for him but there was a connection between him and the sky blues and as I say he was always going there.....whatever, it still gave us long enough to identify another suitable striker.
