Pity quite a lot of them ended up in the crowd (viz last Saturday) http://www.footstats.co.uk/index.cfm?task=league_full
Of course we have. We shoot on sight. And waste a dozen or more good attacking positions every game by punting it into the stand.
If we had scored 10% of them scattered over a few games we would be 20 points clear by now. It’s a problem. What we saw against Coventry was Unprofessional.
I agree Nudger Our players have never heard of placing a ball. They do not look up to see their mates in a better position. They just blast it at goal and hope Not professional enough and a big failing after tirelessly attacking goal We have all discussed this before and no improvement has been seen at all We have thrown points away
Some of the chances against Coventry were clear cut though even if outside the box. McGeehan's in particular just needed putting on target. Rather than discourage shots from outside the box Id rather they paid more attention to these aspects in training - ,along with free kicks, corners.
Thought these days in drug fuelled Britain the saying was If you don't score you don't shoot... Taxi... il get mi coite...
More than any other team in the World (at least, in the leagues that are on there). 1 more than Leeds.
It may part explain why we only had two pens if were shooting instead of trying to dribble or get a cross in the box.
What if you play the ball to a team mate in a better position who crosses the ball for our centre forward to head into an empty net? Seems like a perfectly legitimate goal to me without a shot taking place.
