Discipline is still strict in the forces, the approach towards discipline as changed because society as a whole as changed, like I pointed out earlier the Forces reflect society. As far as discipline goes I dont know any other job where you can be sent to prison for not turning up to work ( awol) on civvy street just not turning up to work for a week with no phone call may not even result in loss of job. Being 10 mins late for a parade can still incur a fine or extra duties. The military as a whole as changed over the last 15 years let alone the 30 I have served but still as core values and service tests, it is different now but I will say again our Forces have to reflect society because that's where we recruit from. Many people are stuck in a time warp in relation to how they think our military should be ran, jesus, some people think ( the one's who haven't served, generally) that it's the armies job to sort out societies dross by way of national service, it simply would not work. The army/ military is not like it was in the 50s ( thank god) we are volunteers, we are there because we want too, we dont want/ need people in our Army ( well Defence Force because we are under 100,000) who don't want to be here. Have a good weekend COYR
I agree with you on national service . Some seem to think that Army discipline would sort em out . Good grief I couldn’t think of anything worse than teaching some of the scum that burgle or beat up less abled people etc how to kill or evade capture .
People only don’t like Corbyn because he speaks the truth about this country about it’s history etc. All this was because he said British forces should be prosecuted after the Bloody Sunday attack. He was damb right. British forces shot into a march. After investigation most of them wasn’t even in the ira. Nobody gives a **** about that though as people think WE ARE THE HEROES. Also nobody mentions the UDA either. Don’t get me wrong, some of the stuff he says makes me cringe but he says stuff from a none biased point of view. As for people banging on about afghan etc British should of never EVER invaded these countries. Maybe less oil wars and colonising other countries we might get respected.
I know I'm in a minority, but I really dislike military and army folk sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the sacrifices that people make to protect our country, but the fact that some people think that just because they chose that career that they deserve a standing ovation when they so much as go for a **** really grinds my gears.
28 years and I’m about as “military” as my goldfish...... however.......Appreciate the sacrifices? If you’ve never served you dont know 10% of them so while I’m having a ***** il be sure to think of you.
Most of my family members, other than my brother & I have served. I have utmost respect for the armed forces. With a limited number of exceptions, nearly all atrocities have been sanctioned by politicians. My cousin was in Iraq with the marines & he has never been the same since. Soldiers are living with a lot of dark stuff many of us don't ever experience. Ireland will always be divisive & the right wing media have attacked Corbyn for speaking to Adams & McGuinness. Blair & Thatcher made the same contacts with the IRA & we did eventually get peace. Instead of recognising he may be partially responsible for that, the likes of the Mail & the Sun have tried to turn it round to suggest he supported their actions, which is ridiculous. I fear that this deplorable "prank" is linked to this twisting of the truth.
People don't like him because he speaks the truth ? No people dont like him because they think he's a lovely person. Went on some Barnsley Town page about the local elections today and the hatred for him was for me surprising, I thought I was on a page for some leafy surry suburb not my home town. What surprised me most were the old ones saying how they have voted for labour in every election over years and years but will never again whilst he is the ring master
He's a left-leaning socialist and ideologist so that means he holds opinions based upon these lines which gives him bias, no different than someone from the Green Party or a Conservative who naturally have their own bias: this is called politics. Further "Britain" has not colonised any country since the 1870s. Only the very privileged and wealthy ratepayers could vote back then. The majority of that population, working class people like you and me did not elect governments so cannot be held accountable for decisions made in a by-gone era.
Never said it did. I don't want to risk getting shot at or blown up, so I didn't go into the army. Everyone has that choice.
Can you put some flesh on the bones and give an example or what you have witnessed regarding servicemen/ women expect, deserve a standing ovation. TIA
I love our armed forces. They can choose whichever cardboard target they like. As long as it helps them with their accuracy.
