    Interesting. If true it goes to show the value John Stones, Alfie Mawson and in future perhaps Lindsay, Pinnock etc continue to give this club. A legacy of turning promising young defenders into Premier League stars. It makes us very desirable.

    Not so, sure james bree turned united down to stay with us at similar age to this lad. Closer to home and thought he would have a better chance of breaking into the 1st team so I heard.
    Most cases true but not all.

    Yep - players (sometimes) go where the money is.
    That’s why he’s come to us.
    Our owners are wealthier than all the clubs you mentioned COMBINED.

    Didn’t Jordan Clark also turn down Man City to stay with us?

    Admittedly players would usually go for the money and for the potentially more attractive club but some players would prefer the chance to break through and get some game time.

    We don't, however, pay higher wages than the clubs you mention. Or anything like parallel.

    Be surprised if any of the others would offer him significantly more than us for a 16 year old, not to be confused with us offering big wages but Academy players don’t get that, once he turns 17 though is where the difference can start to show.
