If they lose at Palace and Southampton & Burnley both win....

    Early that.

Wonder if Winkler wishes he'd stayed?

I couldn't believe he left us for them. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind Town. I have mates that support them and were very similar.

He's obviously gone for the money, because other than that it's a dumb move and he can't be enjoying watching them get loved every week knowing he's having absolutely on affect on those results.

Yeah, they've got their parachute money, but hasn't half of the championship? They could go straight through on the back of this, just like Sunderland.

I think he might well regret it. I was wondering over the weekend that when Huddersfield do go down
and hopefully we are promoted, would there be any possibility that he could be welcomed back, or
has he burned his bridges.? We'd have to match the salary he's getting at Huddersfield of course.

I don't think they'll do another Sunderland. I think their ownership will keep faith in them and they will be in a better position than us next season financially. I think Sunderland was poorly managed from the boardroom down and can't see that happening with town.

From what I’ve seen of Hudds this season, they could struggle next season.

Just no fight or team spirit. I’m not sure if it’s a quality thing or mentally they can’t get their heads up. They might have to have a freshen up this summer. Interesting times for them, despite the parachute money.

It’s a real shame that they’re coming down- they did well to get there, spent a lot of money to stay there & it hasn’t worked out. The prem is out of step with real football and football clubs - the salary of a top player is more than many clubs spend in total. The Haves & Have Nots is just as prevalent in football as in the country as a whole. I will never forget the joint celebrations with Udders during the Flicker times & wish them well

All depends on who they lose/recruit, and also how they start. They've got a losing mentality, just like Sunderland, and the championship is a very good standard. If they get off to a bad start it could be difficult for them.

Even last week they got a healthy lead at West Ham and ended up losing. I feel for my mates who support them, but unfortunately for many clubs success is often followed by a massive slap.

I thought when he left it was mainlying Stendel at the helmet, and he appeared in the press because of his superior English and I think I was right. Can't see what he would add if he did tbh.

I'm not sure , but I would think that it would be inevitable that some of their better
quality players on decent wages, could look to move on. As for feeling sorry for
their fans, I can empathise. The solitary season we played in the Premiership,
it was demoralising to be on the end of some dodgy and totally biased refereeing and
several hefty hammerings re- Chelsea 0-6, West Ham 0-6, Arsenal 0-5 and Man
Utd 0-7. Having said that , we gave it good shot and in another season, given the
points tally we did manage to eventually amass, we could have stayed up.

Yet we still managed to get 35 points.

If only Danny had got some premier league experience in central defence and not blown £1.5million on Hristov then who knows what would have been.

Yeah JT, given what we paid for him , Hristov was a big disappointment, as was
Alex Krizan. Barney, Jan Agge and Ashley were good signings, but as you rightly
say, we really needed some additional quality players who had the necessary experience in
    regularly playing Premiership football.

And had we beaten Ipswich in 2000 look how experienced that squad was in terms of premiership experience.

    Miller
    Eaden
    Curtis
    Chettle
    Morgan
    Bernard
    Thomas
    Tinkler
    Hignett
    Shipperley

Danny had to gamble on Hristov I think, he did score but not enough. Loved our premiership season, team showed real tenacity .Just wish we had got something from that Liverpool game and we might just have managed to survive.

Yup. At least we went for it. At the end of the season, we seemed to settle a bit more and got some decent results. It was the Liverpool game which knocked us.
The spirit we had back then - I don’t see it in Huddersfield. And that’s why I think they’ll struggle next season.
