http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47386953 Any one read about this new app and opertunity to buy a share in a non league club? Apparently the app is used to vote on decisions regarding the club. Anyone any opinions on if this could actually work?
Can’t see it working. Football fans are morons. The manager would be sacked after every defeat. Can you imagine if half the lunacy you see on here affected the club in any meaningful way? Imagine having someone like Nudger able to make even 1/2500 of a decision. Shudder at the thought. I also don’t see how decisions can be ‘real time’ enough. Imagine interviewing a manager “what salary are you expecting?” “£500 a week” “hang on, let me just wait for the votes to come in”. I guess you’d have a CEO and set hard limits, but who wants to work for 2500 managers?
I agree can't possibly see how this could work long term. It's probably ok as a novelty but when you actually look into it and read the terms and conditions I was surprised. The actual app is free but to have full access and be a decision maker costs you £49. But that doesn't actually make you a shareholder in the club. It states that each app user will then be given an opportunity to buy 1 share in the club and become an actual shareholder. I personally have no idea how much that would be.
Thought this was about Charlton's brilliant idea of selling the club to the EFL, and then leasing the ground and training pitches back to them. The idea was pitched to a fans forum the other night by the current owner, crazy
It got better than that - a press release was sent out yesterday in which he demanded that the EFL buy them, because it's so unfair and hard owning a club. http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/5c77e0391c719/owner-roland-duchatelet-demands-efl-acquire-charlton?fbclid=IwAR3xwUbyKThZBHz0GVvn-BezGOBw6oOTxpw2HZ50eK9CcFcRCnUhn4YFDRI
