There’s a town full of pikeys just down the road, hope we don’t run out of teeth when we go there in a few week.
Know exactly what you mean mate. Was just referring to the fact that the two words are as far apart as you can imagine. Gipsy is not a derogatory word. Pikey is extremely offensive to a Gipsy. Be careful in saying it to strangers. The other 4 nicknames have very little to do with offensiveness, but are indeed banter between football fans. As for fritzels. It's fairly unknown outside football fan circles (work in Sheffield btw);. Spent Half hr trying to explain to a Dee dah after he'd called me a dingle . He Still dint gerrit.
Bit Sheffieldish this thread on the basis of look at how many fans we have.. Don't be like Sheffield.
I'd probably lose my job if i used the word "pikey" on social media. We have had quite a few patients on our mental health wards from the travelling community over the years: so yes it is highly offensive terminology. "Pigs" is fine though
May well know you mate. Went to Wombwell high and lived on Smith st when I got married for 10 yrs. the traveller ones used to send their kids round our end asking to fill bloody great milk churns. With water. God knows how them yung uns carried em when full.
