Pompey v Bristol Rovers and Sunderland v Gillingham being the ones that affect us. Think best we can hope for is a couple of draws there, and of course a win for the reds.
It wouldn't surprise me if we end up drawing with Burton. If we manage 3 points, for me, that will be a hugely significant win. Hitting 2nd spot and putting 2 back to back wins together against tough organised teams, that would be very impressive.
If we were talking about tough, organised teams at the top of the table, I'd agree, but both Wycombe and Burton have only won a third of all their games. Points no good to us tomorrow, unless we go and beat Pompey on Saturday. I'm quietly confident we can beat both of them.
Can’t see Makems slipping up against Gills tbh , Blackpool and Accies were a different kettle of fish in regards quality all over pitch which Gills haven’t got imo . Testing time for Pompey in my opinion will the draw at Southend rock them or inspire them ? , we shall see. As far as we go Burton are a quality side that likes to play a bit , if we get on top I think we’ll win as they won’t hoof the ball and it’ll suit us . If we let them dictate they’ll give us a game no doubt about that . Our finishing will have to be top notch for this ad I don’t think they’ll be as many chances as Wycombe and they’ll hurt us if our back four slip up. A draw would not be too disappointing but I expect three
I don't think we've won more than 3 in a row all season and our performances have commonly dipped in midweek games. A point is plenty good enough if other teams continue their struggles. I fancy us to beat pompey, they are in very poor form.
But we've won 6 on the bounce at Oakwell, won 9 from last 12 anywhere. Our last draw was at Oxford, but we stormed back from 2 down. Of course if Sunderland and Pompey both struggle, then a point will do, but I can't see either not winning.
As I say, we've not won 4 in a row all season. Of our midweek league games, we've won 1, drawn 2 and lost 2. That one win against Rochdale way back in August. And we've struggled against Burton at home a few times of late.
Last time we played Burton we were both rubbish and were relegated. This team, especially since Wycombe away is different gravy. I fancy them to beat anyone.
As I say, if we beat Burton, for me it will be the most impressive win of the season. The focus on Steve Croft, as welcome as it is, could be a distraction, on top of what I've said prior... just a feeling we'll only manage a draw. I'll be delighted to be wrong in this instance.
