Great to see Hammill back, got a great reception, played poorly, apart from the penalty claim did nothing, was subbed to a standing ovation and "Adam Hammill is a Red" song.

    Onwards:
Alex Mowatt played a fabulous game, mesmerised the opposition, won MOM by a landslide.............and the crowd sang "Alex Mowatt is a Red"

One chapter closed, another one now beginning

It was good to see him again but he was ineffective. He got a great reception when subbed and at the end, which he deserved and I'm sure would have really appreciated.

Pinnock did him for pace straight from the kick off, and after that we didn't really give him any time on the ball.

On today's performance, his best years are behind him.

Am I right in saying he applauded the home fans, and not the away fans when he was subbed?

Yes and we were also hoping for a Rory Fallon-esque trip to our dug out.

I did wonder if he'd do that.

In fairness, Scunny didn’t exactly play to his strengths - he’s never been an out and out striker and they might as well have played him at centre half.

Also, their “five big lads across the back lumping it to big lads up front” tactics didn’t exactly help. Not what he’s used to.

Wonderful and fully deserved reception from start to finish. Handshakes and hugs for everyone - players, guys forking the pitch, sponsors, Spud. The ovation at the end was like nothing I’ve ever seen for a returning hero. Seemed to coincide with some grit in my eye. Think the half dozen Scunny fans left at the end may have been a bit pi$$ed off with him though the way he showed his affection for our great club and our fans.

    An all time great Red.

Let’s see if Alex can develop a similar affinity with the fans. Would be great in an era of so many mercenaries.

Yeah he didn't appear to clap his own fans when subbed off. During his full time lap of honour he was laughing and joking without a care in the world his new team had just lost :D Hugging and smiling our players and walking around pretty much in unison with them like he's still with us, instead of a solo lap. Brilliant it was.

I hope Whitey's match review video has a decent focus on Adam's return and reception. Hint, hint. :)
