Callum Styles is now in contention for the first team squad.We paid more for him than we did Moncur so I would imagine under Stendal he can full fill Georges role as substitute and be very useful to our promotion effort.I know he's young but so is Brown and Williams who had no where near as much experience as Callum.
BMW I’m struggling with your assertion that we paid more for Styles than Moncur? My recollection is that we we paid around a mill for George and half that for Callum. Of course we can only spectulate on this given the “undisclosed” sums involved Ps I do hope you are right about Callum though
We haven't ever splashed the cash but if you look back over the last few seasons since our promotion to the Championship these 500k's here and there mount up.
I think my point is are we significantly worse off.Potts yes I liked him but Brown as stepped in and looks a real diamond.Moncur I'm not so sure,he hardly played and was behind almost all our midfielders and now we've got Styles to step in.Isgrove he was either unfit and /or Stendal didn't rate him so we've got Green who's showed real promise since he got here.Another striker is always welcome but Stendal said last week he was happy with his squad and if he's happy so am I.
Found a BBC link stating that the Moncur fee reported to be £500k. Can’t see anything for the Styles fee but think the spleculation at the time was around the same.
Moncur could have been worth every penny had we played him in behind a striker or as a second striker.
Anyway BMW I’ve inadvertently diverted your op which was about Callum. When he left Bury in the new year Stendel suggested that he would be assessed and a decision made on whether or not to put him back out on loan. Well he hasn’t gone out on loan and neither has he made it to the bench. Will be interesting to see if he does get into the first team squad in the near future
