Does anyone think that our January transfer activity has enhanced our chances of being promoted? This transfer window has weakened the squad. And the first team. None of the underwhelming replacements are anywhere near the class of Potts or Moncur, or even Isgrove as we remember him from our promotion year . None of the above three were defect free, but they were capable of providing talent depth to a team structure that could blend us into something a notch superior in this league. We will suffer as a result across midfield without them. And to use the last vestiges of the transfer window to try and get us salivating about a player who even the management don't think we need this season....when we do actually need a backup forward on the books? Can somebody ask the East Dene Reds if they're very pleased with new signings? And whether it's the hand or the throat of our Chairman they feel like shaking on this the first day of Feb...
3rd in the table 9 league games unbeaten. All this Pinnock/Moore rumour talk revealed to be non-stories. The sky is falling in.
Yes. We're all born one way or the other. When you're half empty, I reckon that you LOVE IT more when it fills up. But nevertheless I love my club.
We are in a great position and have kept the vast majority of our squad intact ( bit strange to call that as a positive!). However, it is difficult to disagree with the fact that the squad is weaker after the transfer window. Potts is the biggest loss but Moncur and Isgrove could always add something from the bench and were very familiar with our style of play. Unless we had signed someone of better quality then we must be worse off. Of course one or more of the new guys might prove to be a sensation but that’s always pot luck.
We haven't sold our top scorer, like Sunderland or Charlton. We haven't had loads of loan players go home like Portsmouth. We haven't added a load of players who may or may not pan out in the short term, like Luton. Oh, and we won a shitload of games.
You don’t have to ask the EastDene Reds if they’re pleased, are you pleased? A question was asked, a reply was given, that reply I mentioned ( which wasn’t word for word) to anyone with half a brain, was aimed at all Reds fans not just at the person/s stood around Conway and GG on the concourse at that time.
Mmm.....you seem to sell a story about how bad it is when you sell or buy. Or loan. Good luck with that one. What other clubs do is of to me of minimal interest. I cannot remember in my lifetime a time when we could go up automatically. I'm ancient. And we have (apparently) the financial means to achieve this. Yet we are tossing it off.
It was said, The reply to those people was obviously aimed at all Reds fans, so as I said you don’t have to ask those there?
You were there then? Cos I do believe the fan base is not "very pleased" with this transfer window. Do you?
I think we are in a better position for promotion. It’s obvious that Moncur and Isgrove weren’t happy at the club and could have become ( if not already) negative influences in the squad . We’ve kept key players added Woodrow and Bahre ( loanees until January), Green looks promising. I’m optimistic, the only negatives for me are the loss of Winkler and GG and the potential disruption to management
I like the biblical "it was said" . And so it came to pass that the East Dene Reds were told that "behold, for there cometh a transfer window, and ye shall be very pleased with the result thereof. Until it closeth"
If our opponents get weaker it is the same as us becoming stronger. We have undoubtedly rebuffed attempts to sign our better players, that is undoubtedly a positive.
