Wasn't it something like we would find our transfer activity exciting. The bosses must think we really hate Potts, moncur and isgrove to be excited by their departure. Not one signing to actually challenge for a first team start or displace someone carrying a knock or a lack of form. MEH
A few million quid in the bank (eventually) and some players off the wage bill. He probably is pleased Might have misunderstood what motivates us considering the constant talk of money
Under Cryne the players sold were all out of contract at season end and had refused new deals. If Moore and Pinnock were out of contract at the end of this season they'd have been sold by GG/Conway/Chien like Moncurr was.
Well put mate. Still mystified though. When this lot took over my Wendy mate had everybody in the west Yorkshire local laughing at him when he asked them all: if you're a foreign billionaire why the **** would you buy Barnsley. I still can't give him an answer. Would a £500,000 first team player to see us over the line have been a bit too much to ask?
I'm starting to worry a little about the board having read a few stories about how things are going at Nice and how their fanbase feel. I'm not saying it will go the same way here, but it's certainly a concern. https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2019/ogc-nices-board-situation-has-plunged-the-club-in-crisis/ And then today, GFFN posted this: "Nice-Matin journalist Vincent Menichini announces that OGC Nice will not be signing a single player in this January transfer window, with the club now becoming the Tottenham Hotspur of Ligue 1. Fans furious over American-Chinese investors' lack of funds given for this window and the last in terms of improving the squad."
All of the players? Right back to flogging McIndoe etc. I don’t think this board will let the contracts run down.
Reading the linked article about Nice makes me think that Ganaye is actually the consortium's yes man insofar as he has had to come up with "alternatives" which are not suitable for Nice's plans, so much so that their top men have left and Viera is on the brink. Remind you of anything we've seen in the last couple of years?
Ha, indeed. I can't see Vieira being there beyond the summer, sounds hacked off already. I think he went there because of the sitting President at the time.
Flip side of course is that how many people were excited about Woodrow when we signed him. I hadn’t the foggiest to be honest but if I knew what I know now I might have felt different.
I'm sure that when Paul Conway made the statement he did, he was confident that those players that he thought would "please us " we're going to sign. A lot has happened in the intervening period and who knows, we might not have been able to close those particular deals. That happens. Like many have already said, what we can be pleased about, is that we've apparently knocked back bids for some of our key players and are very thankful we've managed to keep our squad intact. C'mon you Reds.
We need to remember that what was passed on regarding the East Dene Reds was only hearsay. Perhaps they were taking the piss.
Mate, ages since I took a cup of kindness in the east dene but, I do not doubt them. Believe them in front of some parachuted in investors, I think they have more skin in the game emotionally and that's what counts.
Is that a convoluted way of saying that they were told that they would be very pleased about January signings? Cos there's no way they could be.
No Toby, it's me saying I do not doubt what they say. Your response seems ambivalent. Do you believe the east dene guys??
