Just had a quick look at the board, oh dear.Talk about over reaction.I know emotions can run high at times but surely it's better to get your brain engaged before posting some things. In my view an excellent point after going 2 goals behind.Davies has been outstanding this season loads of clean sheets etc take your pick who to blame is up to you but some peoples reaction were totally over the top and offensive.Lyndsey and Pinnock have formed the best defensive partnership in this division but show me a footballer anywhere in the world who doesn't make an error now and again it's called human nature. On to Moncur,he couldn't get into our team he wasn't continually good enough. So he scored for his new team so what. That goal got us to within a point of Portsmouth who not many weeks ago were 11 points clear of us.Last week we were praising Adam for his goal for Scunthorpe to deny Sunderland 2 extra points. It's swings and roundabouts. Nudgers points about Potts would mean the end of transfers.Players come and go.I was a big Potts fan who stood by him when he was getting slaughtered left right and centre.Have we missed him since he left, maybe but results show otherwise and it's given Jacob Brown his chance to shine and boy as he staked his claim. So its not all doom and gloom. For all those who think the club will sell our crown jewels tomorrow there's as many people me included who don't think they will. Enjoy the journey from what I've seen we are the best team in this division and the league table will show this in May.
Our recent form has been pathetic. We've only taken 21 points out of a possible 27 in the last 9 matches. Although we've not actually been defeated in any of those matches, in most of them we've played crap and deserved to be beaten. Our players have made loads of mistakes and all our 17 goals have been flukes, against the run of play. The 6 goals we've conceded have all been terrible defensive errors caused by selling Brad Potts and by having a W***** in goal. This is only going to get worse, because this afternoon and all day tomorrow we're going to sell all our players to teams around us in the league. We need to watch out, we're only 25 points clear of the bottom 4 and if our current form continues we could get sucked in.
No - Nudgers point would be the end of selling our FIRST TEAM Players during January. As I’ve said before - the three red lines. 1) we don’t sell cheaply. 2) we don’t sell to our competitors for supporters - the Sheffield and Leeds clubs. 3) we don’t sell players in January when we are in the middle of a relegation or promotion battle. That is to say - players that can influence the outcome of a relegation or promotion battle. Moncur wasn’t a first team player so I can’t see the problem with that. But that wasn’t my point about Potts in my other recent post. The point being - if you sell one of your better first team players in January then there is no surprise that other clubs then come a knocking wanting our other first team players. Any speculation is going to un-nerve players and upset the rhythm of the team. We struggled against Rochdale. We struggled against Oxford. Performances were poor but we managed to get results.
1) If people close to the club, plus Giddings etc. are to be believed, nobody has come knocking for our players (as yet). Moncur was a fringe player who had to go IMO. Sunderland have just sold Maja and other teams around us have lost key players, that is the nature of third tier football I'm afraid! 2) It may unsettle the fans but there's no evidence to suggest it is unsettling the players. I'm sure they know where they stand. Players know to take rumours with a pinch of salt. If a rumour circulates that a higher league team is after say Pinnock, surely that is going to give him the motivation to play out of his skin, not play crap.
Big rumours starting up this morning, that Portsmouth are preparing a bid to sign Isgrove and Brentford are going to make an offer for Pinnock.
Players know well in advance if they are to leave or stay or if it’s a probability they’ll go . Their agents keep them well informed transfer negotiations aren’t done in a few days so majority of players know so they aren’t unsettled
If you think it’s bad on here go on the various Facebook groups you’d have thought we were adrift at the bottom with Spackman in charge
That maybe the case which is why i said to date. However there has been no evidence whatsoever to suggest what Nudger is inferring.
