I've seen us play well and win I've seen us play well and draw and I've seen us play well and lose. I've very rarely seen us play poorly or be off our game or however you wish to phrase it and do anything other than lose. This season we've played very well at times and won. But we've also had a number of games where we've been bang average and worse and still won. This isn't the best Barnsley team I've seen. It's not the best Barnsley team I've seen at this level. But it's the best Barnsley team I've seen at grinding out results when they're not playing well.
I was saying exactly the same yesterday mate ( we’ll probably not EXACTLY the same, a few words might have been different), this is the first time I can actually remember that even when we’ve played bad we’re still grinding out results, normally I’d be walking away from the ground thinking “ let’s just put that one behind us”
And it’s the youngest I’ve seen that’s able to grind out results I think . I’ve seen more able and established players for us wilt under the slightest pressure . These young lads managed to come from behind whilst not having the best game of their lives and battle to keep the win .
You obviously weren't old enough to have seen Norman Hunters team. As good as this team is, not one of em would have got in that team.
I know sometimes we get caught up in nostalgia mate but as good as that team was, I honestly believe today’s players are leaner, fitter and quicker, obviously training methods have totally changed.....right I’ll put my tin hat on now while I’m put in my place
81 side was special with fantastic players but also really enjoy watching this side. Think it's better than 2016 not individually but collectively ... Love the football this team plays and really like what Stendel has done for the club in a short space of time.
