    We'll see I guess.

I haven't got it in for our owners. I was one of the few who expressed the opinion that the sale of Potts was a good thing. But that was on the proviso that the money was put back into the squad. Doesn't look like that's going to happen and I'm utterly bewildered by the comment that the money was needed for the sustainability of the club after all the money we've made from player sales these last few years.

Can you point me in the direction of official reports announcing the so called break up of the current winning team? I keep seeing this claim but can't find anything official.

At the same time if you come across any examples of League One Assistant Managers being denied promotions to Premier League jobs that would also strengthen the case that we've acted incorrectly by letting Winkler leave.
Don't share your bewilderment on that though mate. It isn't like we received the cash for those transfers in one large sum as it will have been broken down over a number of years. We've possibly got another two years of John Stones money still due.

Take in to account the £6 million lost turnover, the additional cost of the academy, the rumoured £6 - £8 million spent last season in the Championship, improvements to training facilities, hospitality, etc. It all adds up in a similar way to having lots of businesses returning a small profit adds up. It isn't like we've been shy with our spending, and we're trying to run the club so accounts are positive not negative.

You may be right but you can go way back to the 70s when there were regular comments from disgruntled fans that "they dunt want ter go up"
And yet we did go up. Then go up again. And eventually went up even further.
The same directors who, at the time, were criticised as being uninterested in the club's success are now held up by some as a glorious paradigm with which to beat successive owners.
The bottom line is that a club like ours will always find substantial success difficult to come by. In the periods where it's not happening the temptation is always to lash out at others for something that is beyond any body's control.

Does anyone know what's happening now?
It looks to be easy to take money out of a football club - as any Bolton fan will tell you.
I'm not saying we're being bled dry, of course, but I'd be surprised if they don't take anything. They're not life-long fans, after all, they're in it for the money.

So you're asking a question/challenging our current bosses based on complete fabrication? I've got you. I think I'm catching up now.

Jay was talking about previous owners which I thought was really insightful assuming it's true. Not the current regime.

Does anybody actually know the costs involved in running a football club? I guess the annual accounts should but I believe they're not detailed enough.
    I certainly don't.
There was a wrangle on here the other day about the cost of the Academy licence. As if that's the only cost involved in running it.
Back in the day we had a youth team not an academy and it consisted of school kids from the local area not wingers from Uruguay etc. Not to mention the extra coaches involved.
I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong but there's a hell of a lot of comments stated as fact made on here when I genuinely don't think anyone has a clue.

All a good debate but anything to do with the history of Barnsley has absolutely no relevance to how the new owners are running the club and as we stand today things look good on the pitch and good financially off it.

I do appreciate that, which is why I'm even more confused that we need to sell more players to cover running costs. If the money from all player sales had been paid in one lump sum and we'd blown it all then fair enough. But, like you, I believe it will still be coming in which is why I'm struggling to understand the need to sell more players.

The 6 million in reduced income after relegation is oft quoted. What is referred to far less is that Ganaye confirmed all our players had relegation clauses in their contracts that reduced their wages.

Our income is lower in this division but so is the cost of living.

You lose at least £6 million of revenue from relegation and you need to bring your wages budget in line with 70% of your turnover (dropping to 60% next season I believe).

The relegation clauses allowed us to keep the majority of our squad together. The cost of living and drop in income don't level out as flat though mate so you've still got a shortfall to find.

To put Bolton in context, prior to the current regime Eddie Davies funded the club to the tune of £200m and wrote the lot off. Four days before he died he gifted another £5m to ward off administration.

The current owners are taking out director salary and consultancy fees of £500k pa.

I know that, I was going off at a slight tangent.
I know, for example, that we're £6m worse off in L1, but I can't recall "sustainability" being mentioned when we sold players last time we were down at this level. So are there other factors in play now... e.g. payments to owners that previously might have been waived? Or other costs?
I'm merely curious, btw, I'm not having a pop at the new regime or anything, and I'm certainly not suggesting that there's anything dodgy going on. I guess like a few others on here I'd love to see the detailed accounts. Goats are inquisitive creatures :)

Accusations from who The Current CEO and former 100 % now 20 % owner of Nice ,the Current General manager of Nice ,the last manager who walked out of this club, the manager who walked out on Nice a few months ago ,the players who are still playing for the Nice , club owners in the U.K ?.

what is this "Plan" that everyone speaks of
have we invented something that no one else knows the existence of or has knowledge off such a thing.
Or is it the same plan that every club and every type of sport is using and has been using for donkeys years
data analysis, video analysis ,analytics Cloud7 ,Opta , Chyronhego etc
Man City have around 50 people working on there's

We have signed 2 players there is no evidence as you put it of them being exciting prospects.
ones come from a non league club 2 goals in 23 games, the other from a team 2 places from non league status who has been out on loan twice ,i presume they didn't want him.

if we go up they will be playing against good sides teams that have dropped down from the top league ,teams that can defend ,where as in this division defending is shocking ,back off back off back off, shooting not that much better actually .
chances of them making that jump are virtually zero ,even jumping one league they probably wont be able to.

As far as the ground goes they brought together a consortium of investors, they will have been told how they were going to make money from it or else they might as well put there cash in bonds etc
i presume they didn't get enough investors or ones with enough money to buy the club and land.

They were looking for a well run club
    Really ?
they agreed to buy clubs whose financial state they had no idea off ,Steve gibson said he had never seen them before in his life and they offered to buy the club for 50 million when he was just going round VIP package tables, they had no idea of the financial state of the club or how well it had or hadn't been run.

where did this multi billionaires term come from , i can find no facts to back this up anywhere on any site on the internet or putting there names in search engines like bloomberg and other financial or business sites.
what have they sold or what company's do they own with those kind of money numbers attached to them, i would be very interested to know.
i cant seem to find any of them

They don't seem to be on the forbes richest sports team owners list of 2018 for some reason, that list goes down well below what these owners are supposed to have got
the forbes lists have 14 full time staff working on them personally and also using bot crawlers as well checking the whole worlds sites for Tax ,data ,courtpapers, company lists and so on
Nor are they on the Forbes worlds richest people list 2018 which goes down to those struggling on 1 billion dollars around 750,000 sterling
odd they must have misprinted it by accident

The idea that people with wealth of over 14 billion had to pass the hat round to come up with a few million to buy Barnsley is beyond ludicrous.
they would have spent more flying in on private jets to come to the game than they would have bought the club for.
wheres there personal assistants ,all billionaires have those don't they ? that guy at Leicester had 3 on the helicopter with him.
Security ? several individual incredible wealthy people and not one of them has bodyguards or a security team with them.
On the Miami companys list Chien Business address is his residential address, where does he work from his spare bedroom
,New City Capital same site number of employees 1,him
Guess he likes to run a tight ship.
No owning skyscrapers ,campus in major citys full of staff, or staff in offices littered all around the world for him.

They could have walked into Manchester United, Real Madrid any club in the world and bought them but no we will buy Barnsley a club and place they will have never even heard of or any idea where it is.
They tried Newcastle ,Sunderland ,Middlesbourgh ,Brentford , owner said agreed to buy club but never came up with money, Hull City owner said exactly same thing agreed to buy club couldn't come up with money even though he lowered percentage from 100 to 80.
The old Nice owner and now CEO says they told him they didn,t have the money to move the club forward ,he doesn't even believe they bought the club with there own money
That guy who did the deal for them and barnsley who was leaking information said Chien had agreed to buy 98 % plus ground to the newspapers.
But maybe your right all these different club owners and employees, businessmen are all lying.

Most of the more thoughtful people on here have no idea or cannot understand or come up with any reason whatsoever why they bought this club
They say it doesn't make any sense whatever.
    And it doesn't
Unless....... there agent presented them with a list of clubs that were or potentially were up for sale and they got to the bottom of that list and the reason and only reason they bought that club was it was the only one they could afford.
    And that club was.... Barnsley
    Then it makes perfect sense.

The club at present seems to be operating within its means and we are being successful on the pitch. If promoted then at the end of the summer transfer season we can assess what the owners intentions are to make us successful in the Championship, if they don't invest much we are no worse off than ever before. They have not sold all our assets off yet and there appears to be no major issues unless I have missed something.

When placed with some actual facts showing a decline in our club then I will be at the front of the hysteria until then I'm going to enjoy todays game and the rest of the season as we can't change anything and as it stands it's not that bad.

You can't ignore what the same owners are doing/failing to do at their other football club.

Until it starts affecting us I think you have to ignore it as there maybe other factors at Nice we are not aware of. As I say as soon as we start seeing a decline in our club the pitchforks will be out but we are not at that stage yet.

The plan obviously is to develop players and move them on I think everyone gets that , nobody Is going to millions in to a club they have no history with and even those with history are far and few between if any .
There’s teams below us with potential matching or more fanbase .
So the plan as I see it is they need the club at least challenging for something to shop floor our players snd for potential players to sign up for our development knowing there’s a route other than Man City or Chelsea stockpiles that imo doesn’t give all the potential they own to flourish . So for me the owners will want success and want it by building resources and selling and buying players . The higher up the more their investment flourishes .
So for me the owners need to be challenging for Chamipnship and being in prem .
We could potentially be a Baggies type team between Championship and prem I wouldn’t mind that personally as long as clubs existence is almost guaranteed.
I don’t agree with this we gonna be a bottom Championship L1 team it’s not in the owners interest or business plan it just doesn’t make sense for these rich people to make small change.
If the plan is as I’ve outlined that would do me, we’ve heard people on here saying they don’t mind relegation into L1 so we can win games we’ll imo if would be better if they were saying I wish we could go into championship from prem instead . And who knows we could get a few continuous seasons in Prem out of if which builds the profile and imo longevity of the club

Selling 2 first team members and replacing them with maybe next year kids doesn’t strike me as team building.
