Like I say you don’t know it reduces our chances until it’s fully played out and just because Preston signed him doesn’t mean BFC believe he is capable. If we go on and get promoted nobody will look back and say Potss being sold was a mistake.
In the end if i start to feel the club's ambitions don't align with what I want then i suppose that's my problem. I'd hate to stop going, but if I begin to feel like i did in Jan 17 then it may be for the best. Time will tell I hope this post is shown to me later to show how foolish it was.
I can say people are happy with the Potts sale, because I was talking to these people only a few days ago. Others have said it’s a good bit of business. I’m not necessarily challenging you post per se, but you always seem to think that they are a majority opinion, when in fact we don’t really know.
Felt like that many many times thought we could be changing with new owners but nothing has changed to make more positive for Our future
Yer didn’t hear it from me. And if we sold Potts in the summer - I wouldn’t be happy about it but that would be the acceptable time to sell. But Not in January when we are 4th from top of the division.
Success in sport is fleeting and always will be. But when the chance comes along I want us to give it a go. Two years ago we didn't try,.see what happens this time.
Read somewhere that PNE had been tracking Potts for some time. If they approached his agent to suss out the possibility that he was up for the move, like Yiadom before him and the increase in pay he would have been offered, the eventual outcome was probably inevitable. I would think another motivational factor could well have been the derogatory comments he had recieved from a section of our fan base.
I know that's why I'm currently in the wait and see mode. We were a striker short before we sold Bradsahw too so for my money. If we just flog Potts then I can get on board with it. If a couple more leave then I'll struggle to.
Yep - yer right. NONE ......of the whingers create anything to talk about. That is the reason deep down why they bleat and complain. Little green monsters. Something Admin should take account of.
You might want to prepare yourself Nudger, iv had a couple of Leeds fans telling me they are interested in Pinnock, and I know for a fact Sheffield United scouts have been monitoring him. Now with our track record.....
Like Bradshaw I think we have sold Potts to be replaced with better, also make a profit with future returns based on sell ons, we have a big squad so to buy a new player and keep Potts aswell isn't sensible. It is different to the Jan 17 scenario. Potts replacement may be already here in Bahre Thiam Brown Moncur so don't think we may have to replace Potts but we should strengthen the 1st team but to do that due to the size of the squad we have to let players go because not many top players want to be a squad player or on the bench at Barnsley. I completely agree with Nudger regarding selling to local or promotion rivals and selling on the cheap, I don't think this CEO will do that. Only time to judge is end of Jan and then if we achieve promotion or not. I expect us to gain promotion this year based on our budget, our resources and the standard of this league.
Some good points Nudge but what it we signed 2 Cauley Woodrow's with the Potts money and still had £500k left over?
Nudger i kno you have a reputation on here and some who post on here just have a vendetta against anyone who says something bad about the club (happy clapper brigade) but on this post you are spot on. yes PC saved the club but he took out WAY more than he put in and the club was sold on that principle that every season you can sell players make a tidy profit and fans still clap and say thank you for saving us.... dosent really wash with billionaire owners tho does it!?!?
Same here. It makes you wonder if the 2015/16 season would have ended differently, if we had sold players in January.
