My Irish other half is from the most unsporting family ever to walk the earth. EVER. New Years Eve consisted of the whole lot of them sitting round with guitars and ukuleles singing and doing. To be fair they're pretty good. Anyhoo, last summer I tempted the her down to the Oyster Oval at Tralee to watch Kerry play cricket. It's a gorgeous ground, well pitch and hut, next to the water by Tralee Bay. She went on the promise of a picnic of Gin and Tonics, cucumber sandwiches and suchlike. Staggeringly she got hooked. We went to all the remaining games at her insistence. Last night I had to get out of bed and stand in my under crackers with a bat explaining the lbw rule to the point where her daughter banged on the wall to tell us to quieten down cos she couldn't concentrate on her homework. Said other half is now at the side of me avidly reading a biography of Basil D'Oliveira. I'd never have believed it possible!
Sounds like Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers to me! Go check the greenhouse, see if there's any weird looking pods growing in there.
I managed to get my girlfriend who had no idea about football to come to Oakwell, she first went to the fleetwood jpt match in the p******* down rain, now she’s wanting to get a season ticket next season, plus her family are all washday supporters too
Have you taken her to a hurling game? I used to live in Waterford and it's a brilliant game to watch - arguably more entertaining than football
It's the one thing I've not been to over here. I can't seem to take to it. Maybe it's easier to follow at the ground than on telly as I never seem to know exactly where the ball is half the time. No doubt I'll get round to it although Kerry don't really do hurling. Football is king here. I did take her to Oakwell last year and to Glenavon last week so I'm slowly converting her.
My wife also Irish loves cricket. If only I could get her to like football life would be much easier.
Can't quite remember . Wasn't Jonners uncontrollable laughing when Botham hit his own stumps with his leg and Jonners said 'oh no ' ...' he couldn't quite get his leg over ' .
