Whilst not condoning the post for one minute can you explain your use of the term 'racial stereotyping' in this case (see my post 18)?
Absolutely, but racial stereotyping?? I know I am being pedantic but overusing such terms devalues them in genuine examples.
Apologies to anyone who is offended by my earlier comment, as it’s quite a few of you I realise I must be in the wrong, Sorry.
I'm a firm believer that pc has almost become self defeating at times and that it's the intent of the words rather than the words themselves that matter. Nevertheless referring to someone as a "chink" on a forum where intent can be difficult to assess can at best be called naive.
I am not sure Yank was/is ever a derogatory term. Americans call/called us 'Limeys' (I think related to the use of limes by the British navy to avoid scurvy. The origins of 'Yanks' is debatable but many references say it is an abbreviated form of Yankee. Neither seem to cause offence to Americans or Brits. 'Kitchen sink' on the other hand is rhyming slang 'Chink' and IS a racist slur towards all people of East Asian appearance.
