Off to Warsaw today for a few days I know plenty of people on here have been, so any tips for things to do would be much appreciated. Museums, art galleries and other cultural places would be a good start. Any recommendations involving local ales and food are also much appreciated!

Wasn't planning on it, but could do! Off with the family and in-laws for some culture, beer and potatoes.

To be honest there's not a great deal to see compared to Krakow.
Warsaw was obliterated by the Nazis in WW2 so there are no ancient buildings. They've rebuilt the castle exactly as it was before destruction so that's worth a visit. That seems to be the cultural centre and the streets off there are full of bars and restaurants. There's a building nicknamed the Wedding cake that the Soviets built which was probably designed by the same bloke who designed Barnsley town centre in the 70s. I think they've left it up just as a reminder of what life was like under communist rule. There are a few museums as well but not much else. The national stadium diwn by the river is fantastic . Saw AC/DC there with 60,000 all under cover.

I've heard that Krakow is much more interesting but there were no flights back from there to St Petersburg unfortunately. I'll definitely check out the castle.
