You can't have liked being booed today Monkey. West stand west stand give us a song, a moment of silence then booooo.
We do not respond to riffraff....We only sing when we want to, sing when we want to, we only sing when we want to
I thought we were brilliant yesterday, but why oh why do we always play ourselves into danger passing around our own box? That's the only time Peterborough threatened us yesterday and it seems to be the policy every match instead of playing it long at times.
Booting it long usually means the opposition regain possession. A combination of Davies inaccurate (I has improved a bit) kicking and the lack of an Ashley Ward player who can shield the ball hold it up and lay it off means we lose the ball more often than retain it. Keefer Moore for all his goals, if you watch closely does not cope very well in that area of his game. Most of his head-ons go nowhere near our advancing players and he often loses possession with the ball at his feet . I agree that we should mix long kicks with short play it out tactics since if we do the latter every time the opposition just press higher.
Davies scares me to death sometimes when we play it back to him and I see the opposition player advancing towards him, he seems to take an age to clear it,
No I agree in that I like that we try to retain possession, but what I'm talking about are the handful of times in a game where the opposition are bearing down on us in our own box and we start paying it across the box or backwards. This cost us against Doncaster, should have cost us yesterday and in several matches I've seen.
Did we miss that many chances? I remember the McGeehan one but can’t remember many sitters, I was getting annoyed first half as we just seemed to be blasting shots straight at opposition players when there was no room for a shot
Fair comment. It's a case of choosing the moment when to play the direct long ball and when to play it short and work the ball up field. I agree a few times I have seen Davies roll the ball out to Cavare when he had an opponent quite close and had no outlet. Logically if the opposition start to press us further up field as we play the ball out that should make more space at the back and Moore could and should exploit that, but as I said, laying the ball off when is near the halfway line receiving long balls out or finding a teammate from headons seems to be one of the weakest aspects of his game. For a 6ft plus player I note he often seems to be 'out jumped' by defenders. If he could only find CW running into space in those situations Cauley could have a field day.
But the roll out often ends with Lindsay or Pinnock booting it long as opposed to Davies kicking it long.
I don’t think it was a frustrating game. There were short periods in the game that were frustrating with missed chances and the now customary couple of unforced errors at the back. Overall, it was a good performance and comfortable win, and without our top scorer. Cavare, Dougall and Woodrow were our stand-out players for me.
