Packets of crisps are 2 for £2.20 and Greggs sandwiches are £3.30. Mars bars, Twixs and the like are £1.15. I blame Brexit, Mourinho, the Stairfoot roundabout, Cundy Cross and Moncur for this total abomination. How the hell do they get away with ripping drivers off like that, it beggars belief, it really does. I put five pounds of diesel in just to get me home... the feckin gauge barely moved ! ******** !!!
If ferrybridge are charging that much for various things and it's still open then only one set of people are to blame. I'm not normally a "markets first" type of bloke. But in this instance if people planned ahead a bit better and actually stopped using it..... Then they (services) have 2 choices. Reduce or shut down.
I have an app on my phone which tells me the fuel prices in the areas I am in I never use the robbing motorway service stations
I would never, ever use a service station for fuel! But I'm guessing the lorries won't have much choice as hey won't want to mess about coming off the motorway and will be tight on time!
You are perfectly right of course, but we were on our way back from top side of Northumberland and I didn't want to get caught out on the final stretch down towards Lincoln. If I knew where the petrol stations were up there then I'd have put some in but where we've been is so out of the way it's a long drive to find somewhere ! I hate motorway services and their rip off policy in the same way I hate how ordinary petrol stations overcharge for snacks and chocolate.... I never buy from them and never would.
Fair. I wasn't pointing at you specifically as you highlight good and fair reasons. I don't believe however that every visitor to these places give it any thought whatsoever. Which is what I was meaning to get across
Are you sure thats Diesel and not Petrol? Only way I know to get those prices for Diesel is if you have the 10p per litre discount some are offering if you spend in store
Diesel mate, filled up on Monday. Price on the pump as well, no shopping voucher discount nonsense. Petrol's 114.7p at Asdas around Leeds
Wouldn't call them robbers as they aren't forcing anyone to shop there. People are obviously still buying or they would put the price down.
Pretty good prices then Im sure it was around 1.28 when I was in Wombwell at the Weekend ( and its similar in Farnham - if fact its over £1.30 unless I go out of my way to a Sainsburys out of town
No offence was ever taken, my friend. It's a shame that as you suggest, not everyone who goes there gives a tuppeny toss about the prices. Company car drivers whose own personal money is not spent there are a prime example.
Its not just company car drivers - if you are doing long motorway journeys you might need to refuel and if you dont know the area know where to get off and get fuel at sensible rates. Its the same in Europe - I drive to the Alps 2 or 3 times a year and the fuel on the Autoroutes is at least 20 cents more than the fuel stations in the towns and its even cheaper if you go to a carrefour or other hypermarket - but if you are doing 650 miles it can be hard to get off a toll motorway to go and save some cash. Until my current car which has a range of around 700 miles on a motorway so I can fill up in Chambery once I leave the Autoroute I alway had to pay the inflated prices - I just put enough in to get me there - around half a tank rather than a full one. Wonder what the premium is for electric car charging at Motorway services - they are a much more captive market
Don't shop there, get your fuel elsewhere Then it does matter jot what they charge. I drive a lorry and I don't buy owt at any of em. Sometimes park for breaks and use the toilets, get yer butty and derv before you get on.
They've got a captive audience hence the inflated prices .Same goes for WH Smiths shops in hospitals and airports who I think they had their knuckles wrapped for overcharging last year .
NWF Fuels based in Nottingham . I've tried local suppliers but NWF always seem to be the cheapest . If you ask what day of week they deliver in your area that will help on price . Ask for Abbey .
