What's the verdict? I have to admit that apart from a bit of decent bit of early PR, it might as well be the old regime. Not blaming them for relegation or losing Yiadom, but I think the summer window was a disappointment- a carbon copy of the penny pinching we have endured since about 2015. Off the pitch, it has been pretty much business as usual. Zero improvements made to the match day experience and nothing looking likely in the near future. Massive balls up not extending the early bird too. I didn't have unrealistically high hopes, but I hoped for more than this. You would have absolutely no idea that we are owned by a consortium with billions. 2/10 for me.
I wonder why the new owners are here. According to radio sheff earlier club said the probably not be any am new additions in January makes you wonder what been watching since we battered Peterborough . Fit me we need another right back older head in midfield another striker as back up if Moore or Woodrow get bad injury
I get the immpression there is no way they are here or the long haul so it makes me wonder why they're here in the first place.
Jury still well and truly out. I see absolutely no motive or opportunity for people of their wealth to be trying to make a fast buck out of the club but the January window needs to show some sort of intent to nudge it forward.
- Most we ever spent in a January window. - Looking a lot more professional off the field, social media etc. Like the app. - Family area improved ten fold, important for me who will be taking the little un along in the very near future. Also the PR we have done with Toby Tyke, cartoon etc. The little uns mad about him now, so it’s worked on him. - We’re yet to see the sponsorship potential as were contracted to most of the sponsors CK Beckett etc. - If we go up l think we’ll see a lot more of what they’re about, it’s hard to do owt in this division with FFP.
Three transfer windows to see which direction they are going in terms of recruitment retention and sales. This summer in terms of investment into the infrastructure.
It's a pain in the ass watching some of the performances since October that's with a ten minute drive home. So why would conway fly around the world to sit on a bus to Wycombe and back for example if he didn't care out. Stop speculating and learn to sing very loudly at all the games.
There were never going to be big changes last summer. They said they were attracted to the club due to its recruitment strategy & were behind the idea to develop young players. Most of the players had signed on 3 & 4 year deals 18 months ago so no one in charge of the club would be stupid enough to start selling the players on the cheap just because a group of new young players hadn’t peaked in their first seasons here. Most of the work will come in another 12-18 months time when the 3 year deals are coming to an end.
Not really. Everything was a bit rushed. No proper plans in place. This summer. This Jan. Next summer.
Well I'd definitely blame them for relegation. Simple for the Jose appointment Showed their lack of understanding and experience.
A year already that's sped round. I think i'd be more inclined to rate it 4-5. Which is still pretty poor. Communication from the owners has been very poor to non existent. We've had some changes, the HoF was good for year 1, the digital aspect of the club is very good for our size and its been nice to see owners at the club and travelling away considering how far they are from our town naturally. and obviously GG has done well with various aspects re Mind and other inclusive initiatives. Signing wise... I think we've made mistakes, but every club do. Contractually, things may be slightly better than before, but we won't know until more offers come in this January and test resolves as to whether there are clauses in deals or not. The longest paint job ever has commenced on the East Stand and the family area seems to be doing ok. The option on ground ownership doesn't seem to have been triggered, or if it has, its not been reported. I'll leave others to comment on ST pricing, early birds etc, but I have sympathy that it may not have been wonderfully executed. On the pitch, we're flat track bullies. We made a disastrous appointment and got relegated and there are serious character issues about much of the squad when facing the type of game we're trying to play. It will take time to transition this team to winners. I didn't expect promotion this year and we're doing way better than I thought, but their are glaring weaknesses that are being exposed by average teams pretty easily. if we make the playoffs I'll be delighted, and I hope they give Stendel time with players brought in that suit his ideal style of play. But ultimately 12 months on I still can't understand why they bought us and what their objectives are on the pitch and off.
Some still think Barnsley FC has billions. Can’t differentiate between the club and the personal assets of the people who own it. People think a lot of things. The owners made (or sanctioned) one grave error in appointing Morais. Not much else to accuse them of though. There is no point having a real go at them for us having no cover for Dougall - at least they signed Dougall in the first place. They said they weren’t going to go crazy, and in reality, Bradshaw aside (and Woodrow is proving to be a shrewd replacement when fit), nobody they had any control over leaving was sold; and given relegation and its costs, they still recruited the central midfield player we were desperate for. They’re not splashing the cash, but they’re not asset stripping either. January might be a test for that, but there is no history since they came in that says they will sell all the family silver.
Like most, I am bemused as to what their real intentions are. They could keep turning small profits on selling players (which I would find a very dissappointing strategy) but why would multi billionnaires want to make pocket change. I think we are still suffering a hangover from the 2017 summer recruitment. We have some players from then who just about manage in this league being carried by better players and are bound by FFP. The new owners did keep the better players they may have otherwise sold but I think the under 23 rule is really affecting us on the pitch. A couple of old heads would bolster us no end.
I expected them to be more visible because they had just bought a club and the wise thing to do would be to reassure the fans. Instead we seem to have been bought out by a team of faceless Barry Taylor's. Do nothing say nothing
Has billy bean been to town yet for a game. They ramble on about promoting the club and business and fan experience etc yet the one all the media talk about hasn't done an interview or even done a game to my knowledge. Town full of has beens or Heinz beans.
