No one can tell me with any confidence or not whether that’s a penalty. It’s impossible to tell from that angle.

All I will say is why is he lunging in anyway? Players moving away from goal

Agreed, silly challenge and would need multiple angles to determine whether he touched the ball. Pen or no Pen the defending throughout the game was soft. Yes we played some nice football but we also conceded 4 goals and could've easily conceded 7.

One of my Mackem mates was behind the goal and saw it clearly. No pen.

I know that, but that's no excuse. If you can't use the correct leg, don't make the tackle. Just stand your ground.

Sort of agree with that it's us v Sunderland the ref was getting influenced by the crowd all night doubt he would have given it the other way round mind

The ref and linesman failed to see the blatant hand ball at the edge of the Sunderland 18 yard box and they were within 20 yards of the incident everyone of us in the away end saw it some 100 metres up in the ground. Blatant cheating.

Even more so that you have to tread a line of making questionable tackles. Sadly we never seem to get decisions at home or away.

1.Cavare shouldn’t have given the ball away in his own half. Again.

2.Pinnock didn’t even need to make the tackle, he could have shepherded him wider.

3.If he wanted to make the tackle, going in left footed was always at least going to make it look like it could be man first - he could have wrapped his right round the ball (I know he’s left footed - it’s not against the rules to use your other leg. Mr Mowatt might learn this one day).

Was it a foul? Probably not. But before we do all the conspiracy theories and all that, let’s recognise that there were plenty of opportunities for us not to have given the ref that decision to make.

It was a rash decision and poor execution from Pinnock, even if he took the ball it was untidy. I thought he was turned far too easily for the second too. He’s a fantastic player for us but he wasn’t great at those key moments last night - and some still say he was man of the match? I do feel for him alongside Cavare though, he must spend 90 minutes expecting a **** up. I actually like Cavare coming forward, man mountain, takes some stopping. But he will cost us time and time again with his lackadaisical and lazy approach to defending.

Dust down and go again - a right back needs to be found now and bought January 1st.

    There were two more incidents.

A handball that looked stonewall, which he waved away, and a challenge from McGeehan that the linesman was looking at and didn't flag, but the ref, who was behind play, blew for.

I think We have been quite fortunate with pens this season least twice I've seen Lindsay grappling like he is on wwe in the area and we have got away with it. But like you say at the SOL don't give him chance to make that desision even Sunderland fans saying it didn't look a pen mind. That goal changed the game completely.

How have you pinned that on Lindsay? Pinnock should’ve ushered him to the byline, which is where he was going anyway.

I didn't if you read it I just said that's why he plays on the right of defence. He is left footed that's why he went to tackle with his left foot. I agree he shouldn't of gone in cavare shouldn't of gave the ball away pinnock shouldn't of made the challenge, should the ref have given the pen?

You could’ve stopped at “left footed on the right side” without bringing Lindsay in to it though.

I didn’t think it was a penalty and the ref got it wrong in all fairness.
