No way and what makes it worse is the ref is in no position to adjudge that the defender played the ball as his view was obscured by the attacker. Clean well timed tackle. It happens far to often to BFC (small clubs vs so called 'big' clubs) for it to be co-incidence IMO. If football took the lead from Rugby and mic'd up referees so we could hear their decisions it might have some impact on the impression that they are untouchable and immune to criticism.
That's what incensed me - he can only have been guessing at best but he couldn't blow up fast enough. Smacked very much of pre-meditated bias.
Even though I usually worry about refs getting conned for penalties , that was one of those where my gut felt 'nah he's not giving that' based on the ref's angle and the fact it at least looked like a good tackle. I think the injustice caused a major slump for the second goal, just as it led to the ferocity of our attacks when we got back in it.
