Unless you are going to play an injured Walton then yes he must play, & also , I hope people remember that prior to going on international duty, Davies kept three clean sheets on the bounce , no way should he be left out .
No choice Keeper from Forest was an Emergency loan allowed because Davis was not available and Walton injured. Now Davis is back the Emergency loan no longer applies. But in any case Davis had kept clean sheets in the last couple of games for us anyway hard to make any case for not putting him straight back in
Of course Jordan Smith was for one game only. And he did very well. But regardless Davies would come back in for me. I’m not sure why there would even be a debate about it. He didn’t have a great season 17/18 - but who did? There aren’t many, if any, better than him at league one level, last season will have strengthened his character, and this season I’ve not seen an error of note from him. I have seen some very good saves though, and I’ve seen him be a central part of a side which concedes very few goals. I wouldn’t have him as captain, but he’s the number one goalkeeper beyond doubt. He seems to get a lot of quite unfair criticism on here and by Barnsley fans in general. I don’t think, as I’ve said, that there’s many better than him in league one, and whilst he wouldn’t likely by outstanding at the next level up, I don’t think there’s 24 better than him in the championship either.
Sorry, didn't know Smith was only here for one game. Thought it maybe lasted for a longer period just in case.
Yes he should play, no he shouldn’t be captain (need someone who can get near the ref) and yes, he can be criticised - he makes good saves but doesn’t command even the 6-yard box at corners and allows himself to be manhandled out of the way - he should impose himself on attackers rather than shimmying on his line
I really feel sorry for Davies , he can play well week in & week out, but he is only ever one mistake away from getting pelters . He is not a fans favourite & whilst others can make mistakes & get left alone , unfortunately that does not happen with Davies , which is a shame because I honestly believe he will go on to make a good career at Championship level .
I disagree with those who slate him for going on international duty, however, I don't think comments on his performances have been particularly harsh. He got criticised last year because he was woeful. He's improved on his kicking and cut out the silly mistakes this year, but still room for improvement on the way he commands the area. Still young though in GK terms.
He wasn"t on his own last season , the whole defence was woeful but some seemed to escape stick, but we have moved on & hopefully when he does make an error, the fans cut him some slack & yes there is always room for improvement but if people expect him to be perfect in every aspect of goalkeeping then I am afraid he would not be playing in the third division, he would be in the premier league .
Don't think anyone expects him to be perfect, just better. He's been decent this season, he was awful last season. Don't think there's much more to read into it.
I'm only 5 foot 7. I have springs in my boo-its. Drop our in form captain & let me hover over the penalty box. Stendel is darn wi' it.
Your scant appraisal of the preceding posts is a little disappointing. The cat with springs could just catapult us to the promised land? Admittedly Moore is quite tall anyway. COYR!
Have you still got your boots JP? I'm pretty sure the FA have a rule about springs; you know what they're like.
