anyone who thinks that a Labour Govt (well Mc'Donnell) could tear up the current economic strategy and go on an anti-austerity path should look at what is happening in Italy (the 2nd biggest economy in the Eurozone). They propose to do just that and the EU are threatening sanctions (including heavy fines) to which Italy has put up two fingers. Watch this space! Also the re-nationalisations proposed would breach UK law.
UK law can be changed by the government of the day. We aren’t bonkers (although you wouldn’t know it) like the Italians. In the words of someone else, I hope that helps?
"UK law can be changed by the government of the day." Eh!! ? his is what this whole Brexit thing is about. As EU members we are be tied to EU legislation some of which we cannot unilaterally change. In the case of the Re-nationalisation It is not about being in or out of the Eurozone.
It took me less than 30 seconds on google to debunk your scare mongering. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&s...aw1oOlMdnLKieDI0n9RARi8g&ust=1542388176271499
Can I make an observation please Tekky? And a request? You now have 5 new threads on the go for very similar content. I know you can do what you want and I love the nature of this board being very accommodating but could you please try and group some things together in one thread? It’s kind of taking over.
Seconded. Also, I heard Pinnock trying to persuade Lindsay to vote Lib Dem. Big fan of Vince Cable, apparently.
We've just seen a prime example of an MP being asked a direct question and then answering it with an (often completely) unrelated answer. Sick to death of it. We need more Paxman's in the media who will call them out on it and let them know it will not slide. I don't like May and I hate the Tories, but I appreciate she has taken a poisoned chalice by accepting this role. I'm sure she's very ambitious but I wouldn't want this on my political record, I'd have bided my time and let some other poor ******* take one for the team!!
