Thought it was a poor performance in terms of style of play but once again we’ve dominated possession and chances and were therefore worthy winners on the day. It’s perhaps slightly worrying we’ve lost that sparkle we had earlier in the season and away at Peterborough but even the best sides don’t play great for an entire season. What’s important is that we winning and we’re doing that. In terms of individual performances, nobody really stood out for me. Cavare was poor by his standards this season, Bähre anonymous. Would’ve given motm to Thiam if we’d drawn the game but fair that Moore won it for the only goal of the game.
Poor performance from most on the pitch (particularly the ref) but a wins a win, but hopefully we can get back to the sparkling performances of early season
Scrappy, Southend played well for 20 minutes missed two good chances, we got stronger as match progressed, but Potts missed two golden opportunities in first half. Second half we were the better team, but still gave the ball away too easily, hit woodwork twice, and deserved to win as Southend were too intent on time wasting in last 20 minutes
Disagree - we had the better chances and came closest to scoring. Tell me how Southend would have deserved a point? They got an A grade for time wasting, that's for sure.
Wish we would go more direct and play off Kieffer Moore a lot more often .Today our short passing game was terrible so why not play the long game and mix it a bit.
I enjoyed today we played some good stuff early on with Thiam standing out, Potts had a few good efforts and should have had a couple of goals, Mowatt quality, Mcgheehan did OK and always was available for the ball and pushed us on with a few strong tackles, the defence looked solid, Moore grafted. Woodrow looked quick on the turn and hedges and Moncur gave the team a lift at the end. Not the best game ever but 3 deserved points against an experienced league 1 team. Listened to radio Sheffield on the way home and there were blades fans complaining, 2nd in the championship and moaning about losing by a goal away to forest who have spent a lot of money isn't it pathetic that anyone can moan when they are at the top end of the league and winning most weeks.
Could have been 3 up in the first ten minutes. In the second half Cox should have scored when he had so much time to get his shot away. We got very lucky today. The players lately have looked as knackered as last season. It's like the now missing hugh intensity game of early season, has finally caught up with them.
"Early on" we were abject and it was a wonder we weren't one down after 15 minutes. After that we grew into the game and were better than them, though not by much and certainly not encouragingly so. Still not seen a 90 minute show from us that makes me think we're liable to be going up. We won that game cos their keeper is like Davies - no command of his 6 yard box. Hey ho though - we won!
He was time wasting on about 6 minutes when they were all over us. We weren’t great today but they didn’t deserve anything they were pathetic. Had they actually tried to win the game there’s a fair chance they would’ve done.
Did I see a different game today? I though that was Mowatts worst performance of the season so far. Other than the free kick he struggled with distribution for most of the game. To be fair, he’s having a great season.
