Finally been picked up a day or two late by UK media. So if we face a hard Brexit, we are unlikely to immediately default into WTO rules without making concessions to our membership. I've been told that if just 1 member disagrees with our membership (out of 164 member countries), we can be blocked indefinitely.

The article says it doesn't know who blocked it, but its been suggested in other sources that it is NZ, US, China and Moldova.

I've genuinely no idea what that would mean for businesses and what contingencies they would have to make being outside the single market, customs union and WTO.

People have talked up the no deal idiocy. It put it at about 5 % likely. I thought Russia had blocked it.

Weren't we suppose to all fall off the end of the world if we dared to vote out 18 months ago?..

Why anyone would want to be governed by unelected and unaccountable puppets of the elite is absolutely insane and beyond irresponsible...

And there was me under the misapprehension that MEPs were elected by their constituents in their respective countries.

At least the Tories, House of Lords and the Windsors will look after us

They may well have done as well. The few reports I've seen have suggested 4 as a minimum.

I hope we get a “good” Brexit, even though I voted remain. If my daughter doesn’t get her medicine she needs everyday after it, I am going full Michael Douglas.

Tell me Arabian Ian whether you believe in democracy.

There have been two no holds barred referenda recently, where it seems to me that everyone has been able to lie or otherwise to their best extent.

Nobody has access to the truth, as ever with politics.

So why gripe about the result?

Russia, currently only ones known to have formally objected however others have unofficially raised concerns (according to reports), however the Russian objection is nothing directly related to UK proposal but the fact there is an outstanding issue with the Euro tariffs(raised when Croatia joined WTO in 2013) that has not been resolved. As such Russia are saying our proposal cannot be considered until that has first.

Permit me to reply on Ian's behalf if I may be so bold..............

One can gripe about the result all one's want, especially when one knows that one is right

It doesn't make much difference to Brexit, all that happens is that the current arrangements carry over until new ones are agreed.

And the prime minister you had no say in electing who chose a cabinet you have no say in electing and the unelected civil servants that support the whole thing.

Our membership is as part of the EU. Upon leaving the EU, we have to apply for individual membership.
