Who chose that song to play at Oakwell the last home game? I can't get it out of my head ( as another Oz type sang). It's making me mental as anything. Is it just me, or do others suffer like this?
Before that, it was "The story of the blues" by The Mighty Wah, which I picked up from the radio whilst on the chiropractor's couch. There's always one tune, in my head, filling in the blanks. Or perhaps permanently on repeat.
Well the biggest positive is that Live it up is a million times better that the bloody annoying baby shark that I had going around my head before it. I did not hear The story of the blues unfortunately; i do like that.
Maybe not permanently in my head but certainly know what you mean as it has popped into my head quite a few times since the last home match. Also remember having a chat with my mate about it at half time who didn’t believe me when I said the song was on Crocodile Dundee !
I suppose that if the advert industry could bottle the means by which your brain gets somehow hooked on these tunes, then pop music would be sucked down a corporate hole. In the meantime, the lyrics from "Live it up" no doubt these days could be interpreted as being mouthed by some sort of sexual predator. The song'll be banned sometime soon.
But the good news is that you'll still be able to listen to it, in your head . I currently have Steven Wilson's "Drive Home" popping up in my head a lot. Not the whole song, mind. Just the guitar solo. Very nice it is too.

I think I could play the drums on that song with 1 hand. It just goes "bang...bang...bang...bang", then every now again "bang bang" at double speed.
Me neither if I'm honest. I prefer his more recent albums. The first couple felt like he had a lot of ideas and styles that had been brewing in his head for a long time, and the end results were patchy - some tracks great, others less so. "The Raven That Refused To Sing" and later works are more consistent IMHO. And "To The Bone" is just a bloody good album from start to finish, despite it having more of a mainstream slant. Anyway, back to that guitar solo....hmmm hmmm-hmmm hmmmm etc
I love Australian films in general. They just simply are better than from anywhere else. To me. And the songs from certain bands. Like The Church, and "Father's Day" by Weddings Parties Anything. I have been caught by the "Teacher's Pet" podcast. I love it when sporting Aussies break down and cry, as they very often do. They're not hard types, underneath. Never been there. Never will. I just love the space in the background in the films, the songs, the timing of life is just better.
Aus seems to be a marmite sort of place, bit like US, you either love it or you really don't. Two countries I've really no interest in visiting in any depth. But I know plenty of people who've moved to both to work and live and are delighted they have done.
If you go on RYM you're supposed to get the cream rising to the top. Not that I've always agreed with a general assessment as being definitive. It's hard to go on though and devote to a lesser rated album when you don't get on with the top rated one.
