Has anyone commented on it yet? I played it back and watched the incident and cannot understand why only he was red carded. One of their staff was in amongst ours and there was a violent push. The ref appeared to get that all wrong, but he had a shocker as well as our players. He should have sent that nasty little **** Grant off for a horror tackle that put Dougall out of the game and he let them off plenty more over physical stuff. He just didn’t look competent at all.
Got given a yellow. So got away with that one on all fronts. That ref was appalling today, not that we had been much better. Understand Stendel getting pissed off didn’t deserve to be sent off. Can’t see why he got sent off for basically intervening. Annoyed.
I can’t say much obviously, and it can’t be easy doing their job. But we were definitely on the wrong end of some strange decisions.
When I reffed, simulation was a straight red. That was when they first started punishing it to try and stamp it out. Assuming they have softened it up now & law has changed.
We were very poor today - I didn’t go but paid my £10 to watch on ifollow- too many players had an off day - I can just about live with that but can’t cope with the lack of effort & complacent laziness. Looked a red card tackle on Kenny, a joke of a red for Daniel - didn’t surprise me that Ryan didn’t get a penalty because we never get one (we’ll, one in ages) - the booking made a mockery of it. Their RB “pinched” 10 yards at every throw in without the ref saying anything & 5 added mins at the end was strange - at least another 5 on top with the goals, injuries & sending off etc. Very unhappy with our lack of effort but the ref needs to give himself a talking to with that performance!
He’ll get his 8/10 from the ref assessor and be given another game Saturday. Meanwhile Stendel has a fine and a touch line ban to come, yet John Filan, the sole aggressor to my eyes gets off Scott free; we also might have to play without Dougall on Saturday and maybe longer, whilst their lad is available. We were shi.te tonight, we got deservedly stuffed, but the ref was absolute gash. However, shi.t refs are what you get when you get relegated to the third division - there’ll be worse than him.
There was at least 9 minutes to add on - we timed the stoppages and there was five injuries - three lengthy, two goals, four substitutions and the bench incident which took around 3 minutes on its own. Probably should have been 11 or 12 if he'd done anything about the obvious time-wasting. The only thing he did right all night was to cheat and cut it to 5 'cos we wouldn't have scored another two if we'd played until midnight!
Then rubbing it by turning us down a pen at the end. Although knowing us we would have missed it anyway.
Sign of a poor team blaming ref again The ref wasn’t at fault for not being able to string 2 passes together in the first half Neither was he to blame for school boy defending We deserved nothing from the game and blaming the ref isn’t the answer We need to strengthen big time in January
People aren't blaming the referee for the defeat. The referee made some truly bizarre decisions though. Surely that can be commented on.
You can blame him when he lets reckless tackles go resulting in an injury to Dougall. That’s more than likely going to affect us for more than just this game, never mind all the other stuff.
He didn’t. I was stood at the side of the pitch in line with the incident. He got tripped. Definite pen. Didn’t book their player for diving first half though. Again inconsistent.
Just watched the extended highlights and even though from the stands last night it looked a 50/50 split who’s fault it was for the drama, on watching the video it’s clear the Shrewsbury manager should’ve been sent off and not Stendel. Stendel barely left his technical area whereas their manager came marching across into ours and shoved Stendel twice, so how is it that our manager got sent off? Also with the gesturing Dougall and Stendel did towards Grant and the interview after with Winkler I think it’s fair to say we believe they injured Dougall intentionally. The tackle by Mowatt though was bad, the player he kicked in the air didn’t even have the ball either.
Just watched the full replay and yes Stendel is having some verbals with the Shrewsbury players/ref so perhaps got sent off for that but I’ve no clue why the Shrewsbury assistant only got a yellow when he actually raised his hands and pushed our staff. . Ref was from Lancashire so that probably explains it tbh.
