If Stendel went to watch Leeds United - would there be a media frenzy of which player Barnsley were looking to sign from Leeds - like there is with Bielsa’s visit to Barnsley??? I very much doubt it. According to the media it’s as though Bielsa has visited Barnsley to choose which players to pick for his team at Leeds as though he’s looking into a tin of Roses Chocolates. This type of political manoeuvring always seems to raise its head when Barnsley are being successful. Trying to keep the underdog down !!! Last time we saw this was in the Winnall saga. Who went to Sheffield Wednesday just to warm the subs bench. Ganaye needs to be aware of this. Our new owners can buy and sell the combined wealth of the Sheffield and Leeds clubs several times over - our nearest competitors need to realise we are not the club of easy pickings anymore.
I’ve read things n here about the Leeds gaffer at the Luton game and heard a few comments in pub/ office, but a ‘media frenzy’ really
I mean he was at our game to scout a young lad from Luton that they've been after because Leeds weren't playing but yeah whatever you said
If I was scouting players and it was on the box, I'd be watching it in my living room, with the benefit of replays and live pause etc. As for our owners having massive wealth, that's true, but they haven't got it by giving it away. If any of our players has the opportunity to treble his wages and wants away, then that'll be that. Best we can hope for is getting the right deal plus add ons to reinvest in the squad.
Take your heads out of the sand. It's a media frenzy that goes right to the top. Political maneuvering from the media execs to disrupt little old Barnsley. Worst of all...Ganaye just lets it happen. Safe to say, the jury is still out on him. Did I mention that Hecky was pushed out by Ganaye?
You can always watch it back to re-check things. But for the most part I would think it's better to actually be there, because you can also look at their positioning/work that happens when not in view of the camera.
Yes, Nudge. It's been a frenzy. Of course it has. No, really. I've not been able to open a paper, or click on a website without something Bielsa/Barnsley related screaming out at me. Frankly I could do with a lie down. Do you know, I'd EXPECT my manager to take in a game on a Saturday afternoon if we weren't playing, especially when they're foreign and still learning the English game. They're paid to manage a club and I'd assume that would involve some personal scouting of players, watching other sides, picking up ideas from other coaches, other leagues. You constantly outdo yourself....
I watched it again when I got home, because I thought I must have been at a different game to some. Thought we looked even better on telly, especially first half.
You have hit the nail on the head , our owners have massive individual wealth but that does not mean that the club has . The OP has made this statement before about blowing clubs out of the water with our wealth, which is totally wrong & quite frankly an embarrassing thing to say , they have made it clear about continuing with similar policies to the previous regime & have not once said we are going to throw large wads of money at it .
Unfortunately Nudger puts the blinkers on when confronted with the evidence & statements that back this up.
It's just how football is- teams from higher leagues scout players from lower tiers. They also scout within their own leagues too... its nothing new or disrespectful to "little old Barnsley" etc. As for the wealth thing- this is something you have brought up countless times and i'm not going to explain that again... all I will say is perhaps the necessity to sell isn't as great as it has been in the past. We will see what the owners' intentions are in January when the vultures inevitably start circling. PS what 'media frenzy'?? Can you post some links to said frenzy?
PS what 'media frenzy'?? Can you post some links to said frenzy?[/QUOTE] Unless one thread on here counts as a frenzy....no he can't.
Several reports there and elsewhere pointing out that he must have been at Oakwell to watch someone. My point being - if Stendel had been to watch Leeds when Barnsley wernt playing, would there be such reports ??? I very much doubt it.
They have said they will follow SIMILAR policies. Well let’s look at that. When did PC keep a full squad together after relegation???
