"We" don't...London might. But I'd also argue that people don't come to see the royals, they come to see the palaces and experience the history... Which we could still have even if we got shut of the royal family.
I don't care either way about the cost argument or what money the royal family generate. The Royal family should be abolished in my mind because the concept is outdated. The British monarchy represents a feudal society of medieval England in a modern democratic state. Why should someone be given the opportunity to be head of the nation according to birth and not ability? Just because they are born in to a family where they have inherited the privilege to be king or queen is unreasonable because how is anyone expected to compete with something that they have no chance of even coming close to achieving if it has been automatically been given to someone according to their family heritage. If Britain claims to be a democracy then no one family should be put above others because democracy is based on equality, not class hierarchy.
I'm not bothered either way about today's wedding BUT so long as we don't see the feckin' Beckhams there. Or Elton John and his bum chum.
Money well spent imo , hope they’ve chased some poorly, disabled and people with learning disabilities to pay for it . Our taxes are far better spent with these quaffing Champers and eating Caviar than on these shirkers. Sarcastic comments in case anyone doesn’t get it.
Heard on the radio that this princess has chosen to marry just an ordinary guy. What? I about crashed my car. Well then I'm obviously not ordinary.
Or we could have a system like america which barring the odd fluctuations seems to be won by who has the most money
Least it wouldn't be forever, terms end. Things would likely not change for the person in the street but it's still wrong.
I like to suggest the Royal Family whenever I hear one of the "Send them all home" brigade on a rant. After all, the head of the family is a Greek who is living off the state, as are his children...
The only way I can justify tax payers money going on the Royal family is if they provide a profit return on the investment. Whether they do or not I have no idea. It seems that this Eugenie doesn't get any of our cash as far as I can see. Again I could be proven wrong. The main thrust of my post however is.....what happened to Red Kestrel? Did he disappear while I had him on ignore?
