Been to quite a few .Featherstone rovers games.home and away You lot from that area can't half sup.The 1st time I ever heard the song "Beer beer we want more beer" At stop off on way to hull. There weren't any more beer. Buggers supped the place dry.
I know a few "cappers" from over our way. They like to enjoy themselves. I used to enjoy an all dayer back in the day, but I'm a quality over quantity man these days.
Lovely stuff though. We used to work down at the bakery and Taylors tea and got all that stuff for nowt, some of it straight out of the oven. They really look after their staff and contractors down there.
Sorry for being ignorant. By cappers (never heard that term) I assume you mean rovers fans. Brother moved there in 70s. All his family. Kids. Grandkids and Great grandkids. Mad Barnsley and Rovers fans. Season ticket holders at both. Brother helped set up the Featherstone branch of Barnsley supporters at that time. Got to know quite a few. Great company. But couldn't keep up wit ale and I like to have 1or 2 missen.
I didn’t get to a single game last season due to their home games nearly always clashing with ours. Pretty much the same again this season so it’s a rare opportunity to go and watch them tomorrow. It’s a very long time since I saw Wrexham play as well. The only match that springs to mind was that 1965 Third Division fixture where tickets for the up coming FA Cup tie with Man Utd were on sale and 17,000 packed Oakwell and we won 3-0. There were Man Utd fans on the Ponty End as well, with no apparent restriction on their getting in and buying tickets. I still have my junior ticket - it cost me 2/6d to watch the likes of Best, Law and Charlton!
Me too. I'm from Knaresborough and my close family still live there so it would be an attractive game for us.
I was born in Harrogate and lived a stones throw from Wetherby Road for the first five years of my life. I'm also following their rise with great pleasure, and would love for us to play them.
I "liked" your post in a shuddery kind of way, Mr Goat On reflection I think I'd prefer something new like an away tie at Concord Rangers or Needham Market - probably be on telly & chants like "come on Needham, come on Needham!!" would be a new experience LOL
Didcot Town away please. I could walk to that one. It's not going to happen though. Didcot have only ever made the 1st round once. That was a couple of years ago when they lost at home to Exeter.
