    The aim of the U23s is to produce first team players, not win. Ideally, they would produce good players *and* win, but winning is secondary.

    If you notice , players who occupy the bench for ist team fixtures rarely get a run out in the reserves , which I have always found strange as you would think that it would help them keep a degree of match sharpness & therefore our second string is usually made up of academy players & not such as Walton , Brown , Isgrove etc
