IMO he has been undoubtedly our best player so far this season and is surely the dead cert to win the club’s player of the month award for August.

However how long is he contracted to? According to the club’s official website he signed a 3 year deal but according to Transfermrkt and other sources he is out of contract next summer. If it is the latter then we seriously need to be offering him a new contract ASAP. He will no doubt catch the eyes of scouts from higher league clubs if he carries on his form.

“We can today confirm the signing of Dimitri Cavaré from French Ligue 1 side, Stade Rennais FC. He joins the Club for an undisclosed fee on a two-year contract with a one year option in the Club’s favour, subject to international clearance.”

I think he has had a good start to the season but I do not think he has been our best player , Mowatt , Pinnock & Dougal are all in front of him for me , however, I find it pleasing to be talking about how well some of our players playing instead of the opposite .

I'm probably in the minority here, but other than a turn of pace, I struggle to see what Pinnock brings. His distribution is suspect and even when he wins headers the ball rarely travels very far.

Still, our coaching staff know more about football than I do and they select him week in week out.

He maybe is not individually our best player but the current back 4 seem to compliment each other nicely at this level - greater than the sum of their parts and all that.

I thought Pinillos was out of his depth last season, but he's contributing to a defence that's conceded 2 league goals in 5 games. Plus he's picked up a couple of assists too so fair play.

I think that's probably the point, I rate Jackson ahead of him man for man, but I guess he's a better foil for Lindsay.

I'm with you on this. And I don't think he's that quick either.

Agree with your last line too though.

Opinions eh, I think Pinnock is our best CB and Lindsay is overrated by many. His impersonation of a statue for Scunny’s second goal did him no favours at all. I do agree though that in general they do compliment each other.

Always believe our official site over some other website. He's out of contract next summer unless we take up the option of an extra year.......

Strange player. Never looks to be in control of the ball, a bit like a centre half going out of his comfort zone, but is very effective.

On Saturday he showed great character to do what he did because he'd given away a daft penalty and wasn't having the best game.

His strength going in both directions makes most games look easy for him because not many are a physical match for him.

Like many others, he makes mistakes, but if he didn't he would be playing at a higher level.

I like him. He fits our system perfectly. We need fullbacks to drive forward & provide the width. Pinillos is doing OK as well I think.

He will make errors & pick up bookings.
