3 up now away at Plymouth. Keep it up and they will take some beating. All 3 goal scorings were new signings this year. Proven L1 and L2 players and a lad who was good in Scotland. Sounds familiar! Fair play to them.
Yup. They’ve done right this summer. Some cracking signings. If they keep it up they’ll run away with the league. We’re choking the games we should be strolling.
Same today. Plymouth had 22 shots with 6 on target. Peterborough had 11 with 7. You can't argue with the results, but I wouldn't be surprise to see them fall away in a couple of weeks.
They have set off like a house on fire, good luck to them but they won,t finish above us I,ll put my house on it.
We'll see. I've been following various expected goals models for the last few seasons, and they tend to be fairly accurate. I think that in all that time the only massive outlier was Reading two seasons ago, who made the playoffs despite their statistics suggesting that they were one of the poorest teams in the division. Most of the commentators don't break out their models until 8-10 games have passed, but the bits that I have seen suggest that Peterborough are one of the bigger overperformers so far. They're scoring a lot of their relatively few chances, and not conceding many despite a high number of shots against them. Taken together this can suggest that the performances aren't necessarily there to back up the results. Nothing's certain, especially at this early stage. I'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised.
That may have a good season but unfortunately for them, we’ll have a better one as will at least one other team so play offs at best for them.
