I live in London and most of the people I know think that Jeremy Corbyn is a joke, much in the same way I suspect that people in Barnsley think that Theresa May is a joke - I personally think Corbyn believes in Socialism much like some of the old Labour politicians used to back in the day - Can this win over middle England to give Labour victory at the next election? - I suspect not - Blair realised that and developed "new" labour, by basically appealing to Tory voters and watering down old Labour values - Couldn't stand the man personally but he was very clever in terms of spinning a story and very eloquent at delivering it at the dispatch box - can JC do the same ? - I don't think so - what do you guys think?
As it stands it doesn’t matter as the Labour Party is completely irrelevant which is absolutely criminal in a 2 party country. As for corbyn, most people I know see him as an embarrassing uncle that you try to avoid at family dos.
While ever Corbyn is leader Labour will never ever challenge seriously. People slated him over Iraq but we need someone like Blair back at the helm.
Can't see why they can't win - despite losing vote rose and was one of highest Labour has received. Constant attacks in press show someone is worried
I can’t see Corbyn winning. Even with the joke of May... who I also don’t think will be there. Corbyn is not a realistic PM IMO.
I think he will. He's ring-fenced himself with his supporters and cult members. For much of the electorate Labour aren't a credible alternative with him at the helm.
Yes and he will win. it’s no surprise attack’s come daily as those spouting it are worried about the gravy train ending.
Corbyn does seem to have a bad reputation , but for me that's all been created by the British press . I don't remember the papers being outraged at him when he was a back bencher , but then he becomes leader and suddenly he's a "danger" to the UK . What a joke our press are ....
I find it incredible that former co-chair of Tory party has admitted a major problem with Islamaphobia in her party but nobody is following this up. All forms of prejudice should be tackled
You’ve also nailed some faults of Blair/NewLabour or more accurately watered down Tories. We don’t want clever politicians who rely on and use spin. I don’t give a damn about elequence. We want something completely different from these long years of unfair and largely uneccessary Austerity. We need politics to at least move back to the centre and as far away from this horrible right- wing politics that is currently enjoying its hey-day. We need a fairer and more inclusive society. Corbyn is the nearest to any of these than any current political leader.
Hope not the country needs two credible leaders and parties, which at the minute we do not have. This leads the door wide open for a far right party to make inroads in a big way.
I fear that Anna Soubry will be the next leader of this country. She's already started her 'campaign' in things she said recently, including an attack of that Rees-Mogg character.
It probably depends on where you are in London. He does seem a little popular in Islington North, where he increased his vote from 60% to 73% in the last election (and has only once got less than 50% of the vote). Same with Diane Abbott in Hackney & Stoke Newington. In fact, 49 of the 73 constituencies in London are Labour-held, and 8 of the 11 smallest majorities are Tory (2 Labour, 1 Libdem). An election now *could* see that rise to nearer 50 thanks to or in-spite of, Mr Corbyn.
Not incredible mate, more like typical. I doubt you’ll won’t find more than a hidden snippet at most in any of the usual Tory rags. Or perhaps a mention from the Tory contingent on here.
