Makes you wonder why the amazing at recruitment Brentford didn’t see Alfie’s talent. And why Sunderland and Ipswich didn’t see anything in Conor. Wolves in Winnall.
What was it that Wilder was saying about the recruitment at Brentford on the Radio Sheffield managers thing? Did I mishear when he said they have 140 people involved? (Sounds unlikely)
Quite pleased you don’t work in our recruitment team on that basis. Nobody ever mentioned we should sign the likes of Yiadom, Hourihane, Scowen, Berry, etc. In all honesty, I’d never heard of half of the players we’ve been linked with in recent times.
Can't say I know either way, but I find that an incredible number. I like Wilder though, genuine bloke, so not sure he'd lie. Fair play to Brentford. Great club. Good staff there. Will miss Griffin Park.
Yeah I think he comes across as a decent guy. Hopefully, Brentford's new stadium will also have a pub on each corner
Chien Lee quote from interview referring to Billy Beane question “Billy is very passionate about soccer, but his focus is baseball "Beane is not involved hands on with Barnsley he already has a full time job with Oakland A's" “We’re going to use his philosophy. We’ll expand what Barnsley did in the past couple of years,” he said, referring to the previous owner’s use of big data to run certain aspects of the club -- such as player recruitment. “Their strategy was focused on England. So now we’re going to expand this base to Germany, France, Holland, Portugal… South Africa. This will involve analyzing the players, and how to pick players, using big data.” And all with the aim of making Barnsley punch above its weight economically by identifying players with potential that other clubs miss or under-appreciate
One of the best grounds I've seen. When I was there last season I took it all in knowing I might not see it again. From a job perspective the modern stadia get my vote, it's so easier to do your job. But give me a Griffin Park over a Madejski any day of the day week. You know you're at the football.
I dont think it will but its not a problem as its only half a mile from the current one just drink in the Griffin and leave 10 mins earlier I am told Hopefully we will find out next season - unless Brentford make the Prem
