...for the Colombians who missed their penalties?

Hopefully they'll just get to appear on a pizza advert.

    It's only a game.

    Already happening

Exactly 24 years after Andres Escobar was shot dead for scoring an own goal in USA world cup 94.

If I were them 2 I would take the threat seriously. Lawless country. Madness though..

It's totally stupid they should be proud of their team, they tried their best. It's not like they didn't fight to win.

I wouldn't say they should be proud, their behaviour was disgusting from start to finish, but agree they tried their best.

I don't know if they are the usual keyboard warriors who pop up all the time or whether the threat is genuine. It's madness that anyone would receive a death threat or any kind of harassment over a game of football.

Escobar, the defender who was murdered was killed by a drugs cartel over (allegedly) losing one of them money from a bet.

I read somewhere that there is a theory that if Pablo Escobar (not related) had still been alive the murder would not have happened. It would not have been sanctioned.

One of the best documentaries I have ever seen is called The Two Escobars.

    Well worth a watch.

Pable Escobar was heavily involved with Atletico Nacional, who Andreas Escobar played for, for several years. It would almost certainly not have been sanctioned from his side (possibly from rival cartels).

Pablo Escobar had been dead for a few years before he was shot, so I’m pretty certain he had nothing to do with it.

Of course he was already dead. If he had been alive he would not have sanctioned it as he owned the club that Andreas Escobar had played for.
