isn't it a refreshing change to go to a world cup and not be moaning at the group stage. Qualified with a game to spare, a record win, our player topping the goal scoring chart, first time we have scored five in the first half, oh and our local lad doing good too,the lad from Barnsley as the commentary pointed out in the middle of a defence made in YORKSHIRE...But there are some still finding stuff to have a moan at. Raheem Stirling being one of them. Saying he is ***** etc. If that were so he would not be playing regular football at Man City and winning stuff. He has a slight confidence issue which I certain will be cured as and when he scores a goal. Alli is another they have a pop at . He plays for one of the top premier league sides so he cannot be that bad. The opening game was a bit of slow start but this is a young team and for me the signs look very very promising. The appointment of Southgate was questioned when he was given the job. He seems to be doing something very right as far as I can see. So come get behind them and rejoice in the reflected limelite... it has not happened that often 1966, 1990 and 1996 were probs our best tournaments. We may not win it but we are gonna have a good tournament. I also feel like the group of lads wearing the 3 lions show a real deep feeling and pride for the shirt, and that's not always been apparent. So crack open a bottle or several and ENJOY it..... I certainly am.
Can't keep a clean sheet against easy teams though. Might struggle against tougher ones. Even Panama had enough chances to score two or three.
It's knockout football, as long as we score more than the opposition who gives a ****... As for drawing the second half... bit different when you're 5-0 up in the first half. Not quite as much urgency really? How many times have you seen a team 4 or 5 up at half time score many more than that? No, thought so....
totally agree Titus... they did not need to wear themselves out as they did the Biz first half. Bit sad that we conceded but to see the way The Panama fans celebrated was magical. Main thing is we are qualified with room to spare.
Brings back memories of the 7-1 against Huddersfield. I can't enjoy that game one bit as we only drew the second half, totally spoiled it for me. I know that goal of Barnard is one of the best ever scored in the whole history of football, but that penalty miss in the second half soured it, I just can't take any joy in any of it now. They really let themselves down.
Struggled against tunisia. Winning with a last minute goal. Allowed Panama a pub team to score against them. As stated yet to keep a clean sheet. Belgium game means nothing so nothing to be achieved there. Gonna be interesting once you are in the knockout stages against proper capable teams.
In the second phase, should we fear Columbia, Japan or Senegal. ? I don't think we should. Expectations have hitherto been low which has taken pressure of this young England team. We could get to the quarter finals in my opinion.
Columbia look to be the best of the teams we might play in the round of 16 but I don't think we should fear them. We have a brilliant chance of reaching the quarter finals at least.
Devils advocate isn't he? Or at least l think that’s the term, just goes against everyone else’s view on everything.
