A few big differences for me:- The overhaul of the squad wasn't as radical- the best players from the 2014/15 season were added to the follow season. The jump between levels wasn't as high - Hourihane, Winnall and Mawson only moved up one division. Compare that with the likes of Lindsay, Mallan and Pinnock. Difficult enough when you're playing alongside experienced footballers but ten times more difficult when your teammates are also inexperienced. As I understand it, Winnall was Wilson's not on the spreadsheet signing, and Johnno's was Michael Smith.
You know the environment ! a lot of new players as you pointed out. , regarding Pinnock whom you continually go on about he could not hold down a jersey under two managers who watch him train and play all week , while he may be a decent player you are a bit over the top
These might be aggravating factors, but it still boils down to the fact that the players simply aren't good enough and recruitment last summer was an absolute disgrace. If you want to believe that Potts, Thiam, Fryers et al are good players that's up to you. My eyes tell me the opposite.
I accept that but you can’t include the full squad in your assessment, and use that type off language across the board, most of these players deserve a fair crack at the whip
Who hasn't had a fair crack? You might say Mallan but consider how weak our midfield was and the fact that neither manager picked him tells its own story. Thiam made abart 30 appearances and still looks like he has never heard of football.
You just don’t get it , most of these players have been hung out to dry . Putting a team of new young inexperienced players into the championship was a poor decision by the club highlighting the flaws in the plan . It probably helped in the process of selling the club selling off the assets to increase the bank balance . However that’s all in the past , time to move on with a positive attitude and a new manager
Please don't tell me I don't get it. I understand your argument. I just disagree with you. Let's just park it there and hope for better next season. A new regime a new era and all that.
Wrong. Some players bought last summer will be eventually sold for more than we got for Hourihane. We got relegated because PC didn’t sort out players contracts after the Wembley play off win in 2016. That started the domino effect that resulted in relegation in 2018.
Regardless of the contract situation we would have still flogged the best players and replaced them with cheap tripe. How much are you saying Hourihane went for and who will be sold for more than that?
