Certain people are determined to be outraged at whatever happens at Oakwell no matter who the owners or staff. To wait and see and make a balanced judgement is not on théir agenda.
When the new owners took over the club I read what they intended to do in the chronc, the whole back page was dedicated what they had said. They did 5 times say bsly FC will be a great academy. And won't be spending but selling.
They said they liked our model. They were going to GROW the club gradually. Yet again I'll say it.....do people really think a consortium worth billions have bought us to f** k around selling the odd player here and there for a few million? It beggars belief.
That's how I feel I have no problem with our approach. Don't mind us looking to bring in young players but surely the ones who are already here with experience and something to offer should be at least be offered the chance to stay.
Tbh from what I’ve seen and heard from GG lately I can only think that anybody seeing negatives have deep rooted issues with the club and wouldn’t be happy whatever
Can I ask, whats the capacity of our ground is and also how many fans did we have coming to see us play, in the premier or sheff wed. The point I'm trying to raise is the overheads out way the income. Which comes down to business again.
The only issue I have at the moment is Hammil. Surely he’d have been worth a gamble even if it was to bring the younger ones through? Or did they see Hammil as one of the main triggers for the poor dressing room under Morais? All the other things he says seem sound for a club of our size and position.
Seemed a solid enough interview with the bloke. Gauthier didn't duck any questions, even if some may not have liked the answer.
Didn’t Hammill sign a new two year deal when we got promoted though? Not sure what GG’s talking about with the League 1 reference.
Personally thought that was a brilliant interview on GG's part. Glad he cleared up the transfer policy, however I presumed it was common knowledge anyway. I'll put my tin hat on here as I have no qualms in Hammill leaving. In my opinion he was past being effective, and was not worth the wage demanded. He is now 30 so too old for me. We can still sign experienced players in the 25/26 bracket. Experience isn't determined by age.
Think he was saying the extension was related to us being in the championship. Now we're in league 1, that is now obviously void.
It's all a bit of a worry though, isn't it? There isn't a single proper football person on the board, yet they're making these kinds of calls on style of play. It's not even like it's coming from a director of football, and their last judgment call was disastrous. The ambition I've seen so far, doesn't feel like automatic promotion territory.
Utter garbage. You think with the money our lot have they’re arsed about a few million quid every now and again? Fuxking hell.
Despite what people make of the interview- people are deluded if they believe for a second that we havent been a business before now. How many players week after week do we here about who are plying their trade effectively elsewhere! It’s been too business like in the past and lacked the appropriate supporter aspiration. Think we should give them a chance and see what transpires.
I agree, in fact the reason we got the investment in the first place is because of our business model. As previous posts have shown, hardly any clubs are even near to breaking even! All football is a business.
