......... and because of this his business starts to suffer because other greengrocers on the high street have plenty of carrots. The young carrots in Fred’s allotment are not quite ready to harvest. And Fred can’t go out and buy some carrots from others on the same high street because he knows they will charge him excessively. So years later Fred decides to buy a couple of more greengrocers shops in other towns. He knows by doing this he will never run out of things like carrots because if need be he can always move carrots from one shop to the other - without much costs - which of course in the long term will make all his shops more competitive in their towns.
Time will come when Fred has a good supply of carrots sent from his other shops - and other greengrocers on the high street will then want to buy some of those carrots.
It's a bit more difficult than that when the carrots are sentient and don't have to go where Fred tells them. Also more difficult when he has to move his carrots across countries where they might not perform as well as before. Not all carrots taste the same to all cultures and customers. I'm sure Fred knows this, though, he's not an idiot like some of his customers who just want exotic carrots no matter what they taste like.
Fred has lots of mushrooms. Mushrooms live in the dark and stand in **** all their lives. Mushrooms hate being mushrooms.
I suppose it would be a tomato. Often classified as a vegetable but is in fact a bit more fruity than that.
If the fooooooooooking takeover ever fooooooooking happens, we might be able to afford some fooooooooooooooking carrots. It's never going to fooooooooooooking happen, though. By the way, I'm always right about fooooooooooooking everything. x
And the last dealer in carrots got us in the Prem. Good analogy Nudger. Hope the new greengrocers are as good.
Fred would therefore lose his identity as a local greengrocer and his custom base. Nar Albert next door sells his pies locally but are so good other people are craving them but he doesn’t branch out by opening shops all over the place he franchises therefore keeping costs minimal but reaping the rewards
