No mention of Agnew, or Gray, so they seem to be out of the picture. Of that list, which seems pretty well-informed, I would go for either Ainsworth, or Bowyer. They are about equal in my reckoning. I can understand Hurst choosing Ipswich and suppose it wouldn't have counted for much however much we had offered him. I am marginally in favour of Bowyer, who has worked some pretty fair wonders against all odds, first with Blackburn and their hated owners and then with Blackpool and their even-more hated owners. It says something about his ability to bond with players and give them self-belief and motivation that he improved, or sustained a decent performance in those circumstances. I am equally convinced that Ainsworth could do the same. If Bowyer comes, he could bring Kyle Vassell with him. Very solid target-man/striker.

A general summary of gossip already available on the internet.
Can you write 800 words on Barnsley's search for a new manager without interviewing anyone and get people to buy said piece of journalism...

Enjoyed that. The bit about Stones being nowhere near the first team until Keith Hill came in with the philosophy of developing young players is interesting. Obviously you can't throw them in at the deep end, but I'd like to see at least one or two of our substitutes every match being from the academy, particularly now we're in League 1. Throw them on for ten minutes at the end if we're doing OK and see what they've got.

It's a shame he isn't a Scouser. He could then have been the "Long haired lover from Liverpool".
