Will this money be sat in the bank account of Barnsley FC to use next season or will it have been paid back to Mr Cryne (this isn’t a dog btw)? If it’s still in the club what are we allowed to spendd next season? Surely this is a great start for the new owners being able to spend a pot of cash that they’ve not had to input into the club.....if this is the case I’d personally be looking at spending it on quality rather quantity like a certain PH did last summer!
I think it will have been paid back. The money for league one has to come from current turnover I believe so having money in the bank doest help. You can only spend something like 60% of the money made during the same season and its reviewed during the season too. Ps is it a cat?
I do not think there is as much money sat there as a lot think . During the last 2 years since the Mawson , Stones money etc came into the club , the club has had to remain operational , they have spent a lot of that money incoming transfers , loan fees plus the running of the club . Nobody knows how much was paid back on the loans to the previous owner & we are already approx £6 million pounds down on income for the next season after relegation , I therefore do not think there is a never ending pot of gold sat in the bank like others appear to think there is
Based on the last set of accounts and the post period disclosure the club had around £10m in cash with Cryne's loans being repaid by an injection of equity from the new owners. What was surprising was that the club had net spend of £2m on players which, when taking in to account the rumoured £3m for Roberts, the club spent £5m on incoming players over the summer.
All that was spent on the East Stand. We traded a cultured centre half for a load of plastic and concrete
Honesty from clubs to their fans especially, should be a given, Most supporters realise that there are many costs and necessary outgoings to running a club, (although some do think that if a player goes for a million then there’s a million to spend on replacements) but clubs don’t help themselves with their silence and should realise the fans have a right to know what is in the purse for transfers at any time.
I disagree, why tell the world whats in the Bank? It’ll drive payer sales up as we’ll be seen as cash rich
Back to the Cryne family, it was all before Pat sold the club. New owners start from scratch dont they? So it was out of their own pockets they bought Moore.
Money made from players sales will be listed in the accounts - you can 'hide them from the fans but not from the accountants
Do not agree with that one, all it does is give the selling club an idea of how much to screw us for & from a personnel point of view I have no yearning to know what finances the club have to spend at all , all it does is give fans ammunition to have a go at the club if they do not spend x, y, z or whatever is in the transfer kitty
Yes but accountants can be very creative and can hide a multitude of sins under vague headings. Football especially has been rife with creative accounting. These "undisclosed fees" could amount to anything and could be used to hide anomalies. No end of clubs have asked the question, "Where did all the money go?" Why else would people like Ken Bates, Roman Abramovic, Mike Ashley, Ellis Short, Al Fahim, etc be involved in football if they weren't able to make huge amounts of money? Just look at Portsmouth's demise despite winning the FA Cup and selling players for 10's of millions. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/portsmouth/6917874/Portsmouth-crisis-timeline.html
