    I'm indifferent to the royal family but what boils my p1iss about today is all those high flyers and socialites who were invited, have they paid their taxes like I have? How much did today's little shindig cost us tax payers btw?

    My objection is that their continued existence is ideologically unjustifiable. Everyone agrees that society should be democratic and meritocratic yet our head of state is based on accident of birth. It perpetuates the archaic idea that some people are simply born better than others, and the hysteria surrounding a royal wedding is like the medieval paupers crowding round to get a glimpse of their lord.

    A shelter for homeless people was confiscated under false pretences because heaven forbid the royals be confronted by the realities of the existence of some of their subjects. Disgusting.

    They represent unelected political patronage and power which is distributed through the network of titles which are conferred on those inside the privileged circle. They’re not even British with their laughable made up name “Windsor” designed to hide their German origins - which was quite hard to do as the last Kings brother was under surveillance for being a Nazi.

    Apparently in a recent poll.. 67% of GB are for a republic and 33% are against it.
    In Barnsley i'd say it's more like 95 % against the royals family ...

    Think we need to be looking at parliament and the house of lords before looking at the royal family in reference to a meritocratic society. Need to lose the hordes of privileged ex-preppers like corbyn and reece-mog.
