How they’ve made there fortunes from there various business ventures. The marketing of our next manager is crucial, we go out and get a low league manager it’ll definitely put off a good amount of proper in renewing there ST’s, get a well known manager and show some real ambition it could maybe add 500+ new ST holders. This isn’t a (we’re a massive club and deserve to be somewhere where we aren’t) post either but we need to see what there mantle is now, when they took over we were a sinking ship with holes galore in the base of the boat so for me they can’t be held accountable at all, they’ve shown that they aren’t afraid to act on there words by dismissing Morais on Sunday. They come and said what we wanted to hear when they bought the club from PC, lets see how big there balls are now we’re a league one outfit
The issue our owners and GG has in respect of the appointment of our new manager is that they’re on a hiding to nothing due to the sheer hypocrisy of some of our more vocal fans. They want an experienced manager but only one they’ve heard of and if it isn’t Big Mick then they’ll tear his reputation to shreds as we’ve seen this afternoon with Grayson. Our fans didn’t want McLaren or Coleman, nor Monk until he kept Blues up. If it isn’t Big Mick then they want to take a chance of inexperience but not the Cowley brothers or any other lower league manager but someone with absolutely no experience at all, someone like Hassell or Hammill (one of our own syndrome kicking it again). As for a ‘foreign’ appointment, it has effectively been written off as a bad move already irrespective of who it is and what he could bring to the club. I fear for the next manager and really hope that we don’t become a sacking club again.
It absolutely doesn't matter where the next manager is from, whether he is English or whether he's an alien with three heads. Just as long as he knows what he is doing is fine for the majority of fans. The appointment of Hassell or Hammill would be pure madness - as would the appointment of someone with no managerial experience from France, Portugal or Madagascar.
Think you’re mistaking a few Barnsley fans on here and twitter with the vast majority of sensible Barnsley fans. Anyone that comes to the club, can improve the results we have seen the last 18 months, and can have us challenging for promotion will be welcomed by the vast majority of fans. The owners aren’t on a hiding to nothing at all. They just need to make a good appointment. It’s not rocket science. If they get it right they will get praised. If it’s another abject failure they’ll be criticised.
But in one respect the owners are on a hiding to nothing in that the problem is it won't be known if they've got it right until later in the season. No new manager will be liked universally, but there's plenty of time for him to be picked to pieces before then. Some fans will even go on about how he's the wrong man for the job before a ball is even kicked competitively in August.
It doesn’t really matter if he’s picked to pieces early by a few fans (hopefully it would be a minority), because all he has to do is be good at his job. Nearly all of us will be hoping beyond hope he does well, and will give him our support. Until such time as he fails to do the job he’s been brought in to do.
if the new owners/consortium are to have any credence then they will ensure we come straight back up at a canter. Anything else will just turn the fans against them.
If any fan starts turning against the manager or owners if it looks at though we’re not going up “at a canter” then I implore those around said fan to point them in the direction of the nearest exit. That’s the complete opposite of what we need.
They’re on a hiding to nothing if fans are blinded by the wealth. Mowbray took Blackburn down with a whimper. I assume that our fans would’ve called for his head. He has remained in charge, stabilised and took them back up at the first attempt. On the flip side, Redknapp kept Blues up and was rewarded with a new deal and millions to spend, which he did. He then looked destined to take them down before being sacked and replaced by Cotterill who was then also sacked in favour of Monk who kept them up. There’s no guarantee that Monk will be a success next season. Mark Hughes was sacked by Stoke and appointed by Southampton. He could be in the position of seeing two sides relegated in the same season yet i would hazard a guess that our fans would be absolutely peaking if the club appointed him. My point is that any manager is a gamble and there’s more to on field success than just a manager. Just look at Heckingbottom. He came and rode on the crest of a wave with an excellent squad which won the JPT and gained promotion. When that squad was stripped back and we lost form he went on an awful year long run.
Every supporter wants a manager who will get the right results on the pitch. If you think that the vast majority of supporters think that the right results will come only from choosing "one of our own", then I think that your opinion of your fellow supporter is an extremely low one. And also wrong.
Big Mick, Eire international and manager, may thus be disqualified. We seemed on the whole to suffer manfully whilst Jose laboured to take us down, or failed to keep us up. Most of us will give the next bloke a chance, whoever he is.
People are also saying not another “one of our own”. People say a lot of things. Some *****. Some not. Mostly ***** though.
They cant make any money taking bfc to the championship. They can if their lucky make it moneyballing. Expect that.
We have proved the 'Moneyball' approach works in League One. It's the best place for reputations and values of spreadsheet acquired players to soar. If their objective is to make oodles of profit from said players like before, they will be happy that we are in League One. I think that's what he means.
I know I've said this before and, having said it again, I'm not expecting crazy spending but.....why would the fifth richest consortium in england p*ss around making five or ten million on player sales every couple of years? All of which would have to be spent keeping the club running.
You’re trying to change the opinions of folk that won’t listen . The fact is these guys aren’t bothered about making the odd million here and there it makes no sense . They’ll want a return on their investment long to medium term . I suspect we’ll have a new ground and have a go at improving the league position year on year until we can have a go at getting to the greed league . That’s the only way the owners will make any real money . But listening to some of our “ fans” were only little Barnsley so we’ve no chance. Despite clubs far smaller than us historically overtaking us . If you stand still you go backwards !
