Should look at Adam Hammills performance in the middle yesterday and be embarrassed. He put mote effort into one game than I have seen from Moncur since he for here.

    How about...

Moncur should look at what Hammill did and try and replicate that on a regular basis if given the opportunity.

One and the same. Yes he should and should have been doing so for months. Jose has had to turn to a winger to the job because he can't/won't.

Not really, one was a stick, the other was a carrot.

Needs the stick. The carrot should be success as a player. Contributing to the team and wanting to win. No eviedence of that working as yet.

So even when moncur doesn't play, someone manages to find a way to criticise him. Unbelievable. Just enjoy the victory.

Completely agree. I’ve seen people talk about Moncur playing well lately & it’s nonsense. He’s great at looking good, extra touches all over the place, fancy turns, holding on to the ball for too long but when you actually watch him he very rarely does anything useful.

Hammill struggled a bit early on which you’d expect moving into a new position but he was everywhere, supported all of Mahoney, Moore & McBurnie, got back & helped Gardner out & covered for Potts when he went forward. Also should’ve got an assist with a perfectly weighted ball to Moore in the second half.

Has anyone actually mentioned that he finally DID get an assist yesterday - that corner to McBurnie's head for the second.

I think that's his first of the season (unless I have got it wrong).

I did enjoy the victory, massive praise to all the players. And if you want some positive for Moncur, he actually made a tackle when he came on.
I'm not trying to "find a way" to criticise him, I just thought it was telling that he was dropped and Jose put a winger in his position instead. Considered that worthy of discussion, I made the he should be embarrassed comment because I think most pro's would be if they were replaced in such a way.

He’s got at least 2 other assists. One the other week which McBurnie tapped in from keeper save.

If we’d had a Winnall or McBurnie all season he would be in double figures.

He got one away at Preston but for some reason stats sites don’t seem to credit him with it

Just have Moncur and Hammill in central midfield with Gardner sat just behind them

Fair enough. Still comes across as an unnecessary swipe at Moncur to me, no matter how you choose to dress it up.

Well it's defiently a swipe at him. Unnecessary? suppose that's subjective. He frustrates me more than any other player in the squad.

Absolutely, I thought that too and so just watched and it's definitely Hamill to Potts to net.

There's also the thing about 'an assist' being for the player who touches it immediately before the goalscorer but for example at Norwich it was Adam's clever flick that put Moncur through to play in Williams. Moncur gets 'the assist' (made up for not closing down their goalscorer, again!) but Adam created the situation.

Ye, often the real assist is the pass before. City are a great example, often De Bruyne or Silva ping an excellent through ball for Sterling or Sane & they end up playing a simple ball across for Aguero or Jesus

I was just going on the reported statistics that he seemed to have been unlucky all season having put the most crosses in without reward. I thought they would be wrong :)
